Martok
Hi ive been stalking the forums for awhile but only now posting some models. These are marines from my DIY chapter the Apostles of Deliverance, they will be a flamer and troop heavy, drop podding force. First is the Company Captain (wip) who has a relic blade, took me awhile to come up with one i liked... http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/Apostlescaptain_small.jpg These are some normal tactical marines http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/Sqd_small.jpg Close ups http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/S5030185.jpg http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/sgt_small.jpg This is another force called the Angels ascendant that will one day become game sized army http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/Angelsascendant_sgt_small-1.jpg http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/S5030183.jpg And finally a model i'm making my friend for Crimbo (cos i'm cheap) http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh52/happydiasex/templarcpt_small.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152711-apostles-of-deliverance/ Share on other sites

Khrangar
I'd maybe make the relic blade more spear like, since it's half way there and looks awkward how it is now. The scheme looks nice though. Khrangar Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152711-apostles-of-deliverance/#findComment-1779586 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
If you don't feel like going spearlike, maybe you could shorten the handle just a bit. Right where the block thing starts, then reglue the sword blade to it. aekold
Overall it looks good, but I don't like the relic blades. The handles are almost as long as the blade itself. As earlier suggested I would shorten it for an better look. Martok
Yeah after having aanother look and your comments i agree teh relic blades need some alterations... i think i'll remove the power block so it goes straight from handle to blade? Would that do it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152711-apostles-of-deliverance/#findComment-1779955 Share on other sites
Captain Mick
From what i can see it looks really well already. Good job! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152711-apostles-of-deliverance/#findComment-1780071 Share on other sites
Martok
I think i may look into the finer points of the relic blades when i have another dark angels sprue, i don't really wana carve it up and then decde i dont like it. I like the power block as i see relic blades as super charged hence the extra strength and the power block would represent this but it doesnt look too much like a power weapon more like a spear so i will have to tinker. ^ignore I'm gona remove the power block should be able to get it done later this wkend i will update when im not at work/with the girlfriend. Cheers for the input guys Martok13 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152711-apostles-of-deliverance/#findComment-1780087 Share on other sites

Martok
Yeah at this stage there's no shoulder pads as of yet as i'm ordering the moulded tactical squad pads etc.. something i've always wanted to do for an army but never got round to. Disistablishmentarianism
IMHO, leave the power block, it's not so much a problem of the shaft being long it's more that the sword is so damned big (nothing wrong with that though!), just imagine, you remove the block because the shaft is too long and discover that the stabby part looks funky. I speak from experience, I used lots of thunder hammer shafts (same principles) to create a bunch of CCWs/Power Weapons (Ork chain choppa in place of hammer head ;) Crimson Fists of course). Although it's really down to what you want to do. Nice painting too! The only thing I can say is have you tried washes yet? ;) I personally love them, great for blending colours or generally darkening/'wearing out' ect. Also one last thing, not meant in a mean way, but at the BnC l33t speak isn't allowed. Martok
Yeah i want to get some weathering into the models but i think i'll leave that till the armies done at the same time as basing that way i'll get some consistency. Yeah l33t speak is an issue for me unfortunately as i'm a web developer i spend 60% of my life abbreviating everything and using acronyms as much as possible bad habit... very annoying for other people i shall endevour to crush the l33t daemon lol. Fureal
fantastic depth on the sergeant model and I have to say I love the sword (it doesnt look overlong, just like a power-claymore or something). Whats your method for painting the gold? It looks great, almost like gold leaf! Martok
Cheers Fureal The gold is just a number of layers broken up woth a layer of black wash until the las two layers. I just got my new order through the post so iv got another 60 marines to build and paint....... oh dear. Yeah power claymores the way i was going. The officers in my chapter have to pass through a cavalry unit before becoming captains so its a cavalry blade.
