Oh no another Pod question.

Wolf Guard Hengist

Well I spent hours last night searching old topics on this forum but I can't find the answer I need. If you can point me in the direction of a topic that will answer my question it would be much appreciated or you could answer it here ;)

So, I cant seem to get my head around how SW are allowed to take Pods. From reading my codex it reads to me that I either take all pods or no pods at all for my army. I currently have two drop pods, one for my Ironclad which can take one from C:SM and the other I want to use for my WGBL and his Terminator Bodyguards, the rest of the army is mechanised in Rhinos. In short my question is can I do this with my army or not?

Tahnks in Advance

Yea sorry should have mentioned I've already read the FAQ, I must be thick skulled or missing something. Under the special rules section of my Codex it states in the "Will not teleport" Section..... "any Space Wolf models with Terminator armour may not deep strike unless the entire army enters play in drop pods."

Has there been a change or update to the codex?

The FAQ says clearly that we use the rules for DP from C:SM and only the list of models that can get a DP as transport from C:SW.

Well if we run into any morons who decide we have to go by the actual writing and not an interpritation of the rules then unless the ENTIRE army is Drop Podding then Terminators MUST deep strike (not Drop Pod). Remember the new Errata says that we have to follow what our Codex says even though the new rulebook and C:SM says otherwise.

However, 98% of people who play are not morons and won't even think twice about using it properly and therefore you get to mix and match who gets Drop Pods and who doesn't, and Space Wolves don't Deep Strike at all, they just have to take a Drop Pod instead.

The penny has dropped, Thanks.

This question stems from a discussion I had today with a person I think we can class as a moron from the 2% mentioned above. He was quite persistant in the fact it was all or nothing in relation to drops pods. He also thought he was correct in stating that we use the 3rd Ed wep stats from the summary provided in C:SW until I slapped him in the face with page 14 of the Codex which says my kung fu is better than yours.

The guy really got my back up and in the end I realised he just didnt like the fact that C:SW refers a lot to C:SM, I shoulda rammed page 14 down his throat really.

Thanks again.

Print out the official 5th Ed FAQ from GW and the stickied Rulez Pack FAQ from the top of the forum. Go find a bookbinder who will make the FAQ's into a hardbound book. Grasp book two-handed next time the moron gives you grief. Swing and bludgeon about the head until moron is reeducated. Repeat as necessary.

Why do you think the BRB is made that way.

Enough hitting and smashing already

Keep it civil. the using of 3th weapon stats is something where he's got a point, GW has said this one moer than one occasion, but i think its a dumb rule, and if he doesn't want you to use the new stats and not let u use some pods, just don't play against him.
