Swords of Orion memoir

Brother Cambrius

Recommended Posts

And so, as I stood across the bloodied sands of Phaelon III, looking at my fallen brothers, scattered across the sands stained with the blood of the enemy and ally who had given their lives for their cause, it was there that I finally truly understood why we fought for mankind; I was for the first time in years, at peace. As an apothecary walked amongst the fallen and slain and gave the last rites to each brother, I began to see what their sacrifice had achieved for the Imperium. But what truly brought my change in thought and deed was coming across my closest brother, Markus. He was gravely wounded with nothing but flesh holding his last limb onto his body. He looked up at me, seeing my concern for his life, but he simply shook his head and as the Apothecary came to him, he said to me,

“Brother, I’m dying and you and I know it. I have made my sacrifice for protecting humanity and I’m proud of what I’d done. I’ll see you in the great ending brother, but do me one favour. Avenge me, and all of our brothers who were slain today. Farewell brother.”

And with those final words, the Apothecary gave him the Emperor’s Mercy. It then dawned on me truly, as Markus’ geneseed was harvested that every brothers sacrifice had been for a most worthy cause. Even though the Chaplains had taught this to me since I was initiated, I truly understood what it meant on those bloodied fields.

Since that day I have never looked back and I have thrown myself into the maelstrom of war with further fervour and with vengeance embedded into my soul. I had become death incarnate with a greater feeling of purpose. I became a true warrior of the mighty Swords of Orion. My vengeance that I have felt since Phaelon III still has not been quenched. But once every heathen enemy of the chapter is eradicated from existence, then will that feeling of peace will return.

This is Master of Sanctity, Takato Tauron of the almighty chapter of the Swords of Orion, signing off.
