Doom Fists WIP thread.

Hello, i'm making this thread to share my Space Marines with you, and to keep me motivated. The Space Marines are from my DIY chapter, the Doom Fists. Colours are oragey-red with grey shoulderpads and helmets. The Doom Fists chapter is loosely codex-adherent, the biggest difference being the first squad of each company is a Sternguard or Vanguard Veteran Squad, instead of a Tactical (or Devastator or Assault in the "reserve" companies.) squad. So far, ive made a Sergeant (Combat Squad leader) for the 2nd Company's Sternguard and 1st tactical squad. Ive also started undercoating the Veteran Sergeant of the 1st Tactical squad.

Company markings differ from codex, by being shapes on the marines right leg. Ive made a quick first-version of the markings in MS Paint:

http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq117/Skull_Lord_DK/Doom%20Fists/DoomFistscompanymarkings.jpg

1: First Company

2: Second Company

3: Third Company

4: Fourth Company

5: Fifth Company

6: Sixth Company

7: Seventh Company

8: Eighth Company

9: Ninth Company

10: Tenth Company

X: Not-in-company.

Now, onto the models:

Sergeant Vallior, 2nd company sternguard squad, leader of combat squad B:

Sergeant Ularis, 2nd Company, 1st tactical squad, leader of combat squad B:

Tomorrow, i will post pics of my WIP Veteran Sergeant.

Comments, Critisim, suggestions adn the like are more than welcome.

Little update; the undercoat on the Vet. Sgt. has dried, so i'll begin basecoat when ive finished typing this. Ive started some freehand on my marines's right shoulder, arrow and roman "2" numeral on tactical marine, a Crux Terminatus/Terminator Honours -thingy cross on the Sternguard, in white. Pics tomorrow.

nice work there..

it is a though job to keep going. ( at least for me :D )

so keep it up.

my only thing is try and ad some details on the bolter, it looks uhmm unfinished..

and there are some great tut on eyes. here on B&C.

you could give it a try. it was a help for me :D

watching this tread.

cheers

Thanks, i know its tough, this is my 9th (i think) space marine "army" (2-20 minis) and my 16th in total (over 4 3/4 years)

The bolter is supposed to be a flat, dull silver, it has the look i'm going for (but the bolter is looking better than the combi-flamer). As for the eyes, i know how to paint them, ive done it before, but right now, i dont have a brush good enough, it needs to be small, yet also stiff-ish. I originally intended to just paint them blue, then gloss them up with Gloss Varnish, but looking at the pictures, i'll use a more complex, and better looking method. My birthday is next tuesday (not the day after tomorrow) so i might get some brushes from my brothers.

Update time; Ive basecoated, washed, and shaded the legs on the Veteran Sergeant and prepped a bolter marine for undercoating. Pics when i get home from my paper route.

I also wanted to share my reciepie for red:

1. Undercoat - White spray (i use Vallejo's)

2. Basecoat - 2-3 layers of thinned Blood Red (or until smooth)

3. Overbrush - Blazing Orange

4. Wash - Heavily thinned Blood Red (2-3 times)

5. Shading - paint Devlan Mud in recesses

6. Highlight - highlight edges with Blazing Orange

7. "reverse-highlight" - paint middle of armour plates Blood Red.(only legs, arms, backpack, helmet, elbows, hands, body)

Update:

Ive finished the freehand on Vallior's and Ularis's shoulder pads;

Ularis's Chapter Badge (a white fist, based on the Imperial Fists badge) http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq117/Skull_Lord_DK/Doom%20Fists/SergeantUlarisChapterBadge.jpg

Tactical Arrow and roman "2" numeral

A viev of Vallior's right shoulder pad (i dropped him on the floor so his left arm and combi-flamer broke off, the glue is drying right now)

Here you should be able to see the little fist on the shoulder pad.

And a WIP shot of Veteran Sergeant Rainar;

C&C welcome.

Mini-update: Ive finished Veteran Sergeant Rainar's body and base. Some of my family is visiting for mine and my brothers birthday (Mine's December 2. My brothers was November 18) so i might be getting some marines and/or money (to buy 40k). I'll let you know and maybe post pics. Tomorrow i'll get some pics of Rainar.

Update: It's my birthday today, and i've gotten my presents. The B&C appropriate (almost everything) is: a Space Marine Vindicator, a Space Marine Dreadnought, the Bruce Willis Librarian (Bolt Pistol + Force Sword), Master of the Armoury and a little over 300 Kr. ($50, £34). The some of the money are going to a Forge Word Inferno Cannon for my Dreadnough (count-as Twin-Linked Heavy Flamer) and an Imperial Fist / Crimson Fist icon pack to get the price up to the minimum of £10.

Model Update: Veteran Sergeant Rainar is finished, exept his backpack and some gluing. It's too dark outside, so I will try to get some pictures tomorrow. I'd also appreciate some name suggestions for the Dreadnought and Vindicator.

Ive made the Vindicator itself ready for spraying today, and the first layer is drying right now. The dozer blade will wait because i need a Forge World Imperial Fist icon. Veteran Sergeant Rainar is done, exept his backpack, and i took some pictures.:

Indoor yesterday:

And outdoors today (taken in the bottom of the Vindicator's box):

C&C would be appreciated.

Vindicator Update: The red on the right side and top is pretty much done, the left side needs another coat or two of blood red. I need to paint the details on the top and left side, and back door. The roadweels are'nt finished yet, eithter. Front plate has been basecoated, all other parts have been undercoated, the last are drying right now. The Commander will be in the turret, manning the Storm Bolter, but I'm out of Merchrite Red, so he'll have to wait.

And of course, some pictures:

And a sneak peek of Captain Molotov. He's very WIP:

C&C would be appreicated, especially an idea for a name for the Vindicator, currently, its called Vindicator A, but thats no good in the long run.

Hello, B&C'ers, I haven't updated in a couple of days, due to me not making notheworthy progress, although I've nearly finished Vindicator A. I need to finish the headlights, skull on Demolisher cannon plating (cowling??), and the viewport protection. Also, tracks are'nt finished yet, either.

There won't be any good pics taken outside today, because I'm sick, with a fever of 38.4 Degrees Celcius. But I'll see if I can get some pictures later today.

Also, I've bought some more models, a Battleforce and a Commander and a Blood Red, because my local game store has a fall/winter offer, 20% off everything. Therefore, it cost me a little bit less than a battleforce usually do.
