Dominion Squad w/ Flamers.

Recommended Posts

I've just finished converting a 4 flamer models for a dominion squad and I was wondering if any of the more seasoned veterans of the Ordos Militant could advise a loyal, albeit somewhat new follower of our glorious emperor!

How should a squad like this be used? Do they work? Do you use a squad similar to this? Do you do it differantly? How so? Is a bigger squad mounted in a rhino more effective or do you go with a smaller squad in an Immolator?

Thoughts please :)

dominions are overpriced and are ususally fielded that often by many sister palyers. My suggestion is mount them in an immolator with twin flamers and use them to hunt snipers or squads lurkin in your enemy deployment zone.

I'm guessing you did the converting for personal look? There are lots of Sisters with Flamer models.

It is a bit pricey compared to other options in the codex, but they are a solid unit. I've never had a reason to use em though. Cities of Death would be a good place for em.

Uses, well anti infantry, and anti horde are the two biggest uses. Units that depend on cover saves for protection are also targets they can easily deal with. Provided they make it them.

5th Edition makes a squad with multiple Flamers very potent indeed. You can use them to force a lot of saves on a unit if you place them right. They can turn out expensive (especially when you consider they need a transport) but you can rely on them to roast any unit they get to.

Best used on hordes and so on as usual, but you can really ruin a Marine players day if you get a load of good hits on a squad. Just be wary of the return fire and being charged the next turn - alas such units can be a one way trip type of squad!

If you can get all four flamers covering a large number of targets, then hit divine guidance.... even Marines will be hesitant to face the squad. But it requires a lot of careful positioning and maneuvering to do, as the Marines can charge the squad if you do it wrong.

As Melissia said above.

Probably best to take a full squad of ten to increase the chances of passing divine guidance. Also, although I normally wouldn't use one, but an Imagifier might be worthwhile for this squad, but only if you have the points to spare.

My thoughts on the dominion squad are they are only useful w/ flamers, something about over priced storm bolters, or over priced meltas dont do it for me. But if you are smart the over priced squad of flamers can easily have its points paid back.

I prefer dominions over seraphem, unlike most players, the seraphem to me seam only like anti tank troops, especially since I mostly play against Infantry heavy space marines, with a few rhinos and dreanaughts, I rarely see land raiders. Dominions I think should be loaded up in a rhino, with 6 other sisters backing them up. I generally also run a squad of regular sisters in a rhino next to this rhino of dominions. With the two rhinos I pack 6 flame templates, and 28 shots (rapid fire :D ) I have many times taken out whole space marine tac squads totally over kill in one turn.

Well, my typical loadout for Dominion is 4 Meltaguns in an Immolator. It's amazing how they fare as either your opponent fears them immensely and focuses everything at them first round (leaving the rest of your army unscathed or barely scathed) or completely forgotten about and they will destroy tanks, termies, and footsloggers easily (assaulting it is difficult if it constantly moves 12" and fires). It becomes extremely versatile with the 6" move as well when it gets to the back lines of the enemy able to fire flamers and 2 meltaguns.

Granted, I only use Dominions if I am using no Seraphim at all in low point games or in 2000+ games with Seraphim, I find their worth diminishes otherwise.

Well with the very large SoB army that i have, in the size of 10.000 points or so, i have made up 6 Dominion squads:

2X 10 Girl squad with 4 melta guns and Repressor

2X 6 Girl Squads with 4 melta guns and Immolator

1X 6 Girl Squad with 4 flamers and Immolator

1X6 Girl squad with 4 Storm Boltes and immolator

only the melta squads dont have a Imagifieer with them

And to date they all work really well even the storm boltes, including a Vet with storm bolter it makes short work of troops with DG

So id recommend them.

I have to say that although I field them rarely Dominions do appeal to me, especially with this loadout. The best use by far has got to be against horde units with little in the way of saves. Nids or even more so kroot would suffer greatly if hit by this unit especially if the vet has a combi flamer.

i agree mostly i only field them with Meltas if im going agaisnt tanks or termies. Other wise the points can hurt.

I do like to use just flamers with the Immolator and charge it in behind cover if possible, knowing it wont last too long unless i back it up, but its proven to work agaisnt troops.

Superior and Four Flamers is difficult to deploy and use all of the templates effectively, try it out a number of times and be wary of deployment. I'm a fan of the Immolator but I cheap out on the dominion squad and give them tank hunting duties with such a small squad size.
