If that could be bought... :D Oooohh....

*checks which organs I can live without so I can sell them for some of the wolf mini's*

Seems I don't need an extra heart or... ah what the heck, I'll just add in the Betcher's Gland. That should cover about half a dozen of those pups. I demand those be made into models and sold by the creator!

This insn't mine or a purchasable model, but it might help:

Ummm, yes it is a purchasable model: https://www.thunderboltmountain.com/product...3f7a92d974b8173

There is a second scuplt for the same price: https://www.thunderboltmountain.com/product...3f7a92d974b8173

Actually the better deal is to get the set with one of each and save $2: https://www.thunderboltmountain.com/product...3f7a92d974b8173

ETA: Actually I just found and ordered some wolves I think would be spectacular. i don't mean to keep secrets from my fellow Fang Bretheren, but I've not ordered from this particular vendor and the models are new so I will wait until they arrive and give a short review of the vendor and models............maybe even pics *growling laugh*

*pulls out frost blade and frenziedly begins removing second heart and Betcher's Gland for selling*

I'm getting me a set or few dozen of those things! Sooooo pretty....... :HQ: If I had some and anyone called me on using them instead of the old wolves... well, I'd be living up to my reputation as Exterminatussock enforcer. :D

*looks at gaping hole in chest and mouth*

Why didn't you say that earlier!?! I'll kill you later, right now I need you to get the Wolf Priests...

*collapses, swearing vehemently in Fenrisan, Ork, and Gothic all at once*

:HQ:

On Topic: Size wise, how big are they compared to Marines? The Wolves look awfully big, perhaps too big to stand next to PA and even TDA Marines.

Okay, this was my first order from The Miniature Market. Shipping was very fast and should I need anything else that isn't available from a local source, I would order again from these folks. The order was placed online via their website and I have no problems at this point in recommending them. A very neat feature is that they list how many are in stock as you look at items on their website. Also there is indication if a model is out of stock so you don't place an order without knowing this up front.

Just getting back into gaming (and since I don't do the tournament thing) I don't have any problems using models from different lines as long as they give me the look I'm looking for. I got two from something I've not heard of before. "Hordes" is the game system. I wasn't sure when placing the order and found out when they arrived. They both have a little runic armor, though it looks more like decoration than anything else. These will be used as HQ retinue or familiars. Here are two of the models ordered:

Wolf with some armor

Blister ordered for just the wolf - I do this occasionally but wouldn't recommend it as a practice unless you have deep pockets or use for the extra model.

A picture for size comparison with a GW wolf and another that I ordered with the above models.

The other is actually larger than I thought it would be. It is described as"Dungeons of Dread #37 Dire Wolf" and is plactic, cast and already mounted (approximately a 40mm base) and painted (though if used will be touched up before clear coated). I ordered it from this same vendor. No longer showing up on their site I am wondering if it is discontinued or just no longer in stock. I may sacrifice this model for it's head if I decide to redo this WIP with a third head.

I hope this was at least informative and maybe even helpful for those seeking something a little "more" that what GW has available.

I wouldn't worry too much about the size issue. I seem to recall that in the early Ragnar books they describe Fen wolves as being 8 feet tall at the shoulder. They aren't dogs... more like bears :HQ:

What do you expect from a wolf with all the stats of a marine.

Is the DnD Dire wolf worth it you reckon ? so its on a 40mm base , but what size does it compare to a GW terminator ? since i bought a Russ miniture (not GW) and his massive on a 40mm base , i want to buy two wolves (well you get the picture) that can suit his size as his brothers , you think they are big enough ? or any other suggestions ?

How big do you want to go? What "look" are you going for? Size comparison with the 2nd and 4th wolf pictured to a 30mm figure seen in this post: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...t&p=1928339

I'll dig around for a Termie and snap a comparison pic if you need one.

I want it to be what Fraki and Genri (Russ wolf brothers) should be in fluff my Russ model is twice as big as a terminator , yeah some pic would help

i just want the wolves to look like what they are suppose to look like (but id admit the armored ones you showed are cool too , how big are they ?) and should be mostly as big as a terminator (or bigger the better i reckon as the fluff suggest them being near a size of a Rhino APC)

Would it be possible to have size comparison with a marine in powered armour for the wolves from Privateer Press (The Hordes models)?

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...t&p=2124876

^^^Not mine. I have the same wolves and if you want any additional shots let me know. I intend to use these models as Wolf Retinue and not as mounts, personally.

gamezone have some nice wolf miniatures: http://www.gamezoneminiatures.de/product_i...Wolf-Rider.html

Those GameZone models are 28mm scale and may be too small as mounts, though they don't look like it if riden by Goblins. Available in the US as well here: pigmentedminiaturesstore - just copy and paste into your browser then hit CTL+Enter. Nice poses to be sure and very good scuplting. A bit expensive for 28mm compared to say, Reaper for instance. I'm still gonna wait to see if GW announces a resculpt of their "every line wolf" models or something specific in the second wave release for the Space Wolves.

Hey guys,

I actually have tried an Chaos Warhound into Fenris Wolf Conversion with the addition of greenstuff and the tail from a goblin wolf.

its over at http://dj-batman.blogspot.com/2009/09/fenr...conversion.html

if you are interested.

Thanks!

Wow thanks man!

I hadn't used greenstuff for ages and had never sculpted fur before so i was pretty happy with the results.

I wrapped the model in a thin amount of greenstuff where i wanted the fur and just took the sculpting slowly taking it from the top of the body down towards the rear and legs. just keep going over it and make the fur patches smaller until they reach a good size similar to that of the original fur and try to have the fur curving around the legs as you would imagine it doing so.

let us see how you are going man. I want to see your conversion too! :D
