Doctor Thunder
I had a lot of fun putting this tank together for my Order of Heaven's Flame Sisters of Battle Army. Technically, it's the Inquisitor's transport, but I've built it as if it were a proper part of an Adepta Sororita Priory. (And why not? The church has plenty of money to spare.) The first thing to do was to give it Sisters crew, and change the technology style from cybernetically linked turrets to manned (womaned?) turrets. I wanted it to be a chapel first and a warmachine second, so I expanded the interior capacity accordingly, so that it looks like there could be a full chapel inside. This included swapping out the ramp for proper chapel doors. I made the turret wings on the side large for several reasons. I wanted it to look like the capacitors for the lascannons were housed in the wings, not the interior, I wanted the tank to have the footprint of a Crucifex, which is the sacred symbol of the Order of Heaven's Flame for Saint Margareite, who was crucified by the Arch-Warlord Kazini Dax of the Word Bearers, and I needed to make them strong enough to withstand kids picking it up without permission. I play in a lot of tournaments, so the Organ on the back is largely decorative. I imagine it filling the air with the sweet melody of faith and providing anti-aircraft support or long range artillery fire or any number of other important battlefield functions that 40K ignores the effects of. It's pretty gaudy (has a lot of stuff on it) but that is intentional. Playing Sisters of Battle means never having to say, "That's a little over-the-top." It's complete except for the clear plastic windows on the three turrets. Those I'm leaving off till later to make it easier to paint the gunners. Enjoy. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/DoctorThunder/Order%20of%20Balefire/DSC01449.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/DoctorThunder/Order%20of%20Balefire/DSC01448.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/DoctorThunder/Order%20of%20Balefire/DSC01447.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/DoctorThunder/Order%20of%20Balefire/DSC01444.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/DoctorThunder/Order%20of%20Balefire/DSC01443.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/DoctorThunder/Order%20of%20Balefire/DSC01442.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/DoctorThunder/Order%20of%20Balefire/DSC01441.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/DoctorThunder/Order%20of%20Balefire/DSC01440.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/DoctorThunder/Order%20of%20Balefire/DSC01438.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153142-sisters-of-battle-land-raider/ Share on other sites
Elegaic Requiem
one of the coolest lr conversions ive seen. it really shines with that distinct "inquisition opulence." i may have to try something along these lines for my wh army that im (slowly) building-up. are the crucifix wings' sides from a baneblade? i dont recognize them. Shortsonfire79
Wow, not a fan of the square front's, but this one is pretty awesome. I really like the mondo sponsons! It looks really busy, but at the same time, its heavily armed, and I don't want to be standing near it when those organ things fire. =-D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153142-sisters-of-battle-land-raider/#findComment-1784669 Share on other sites
Doctor Thunder
are the crucifix wings' sides from a baneblade? i dont recognize them. They're built from parts from the Baneblade sponson sprue and plasticard. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153142-sisters-of-battle-land-raider/#findComment-1784677 Share on other sites
Imperialis_Dominatus
That just might be the coolest Land Raider ever. When will it be painted? kittenofdeath
oh that baby is wonderful, my only dislike about it is the upside down lascannons, but apart from that it is a dam work of art Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153142-sisters-of-battle-land-raider/#findComment-1784907 Share on other sites

chaplainmikey
Best Land raider conversion i've seen, the thing just oozes character! It looks great,i love the concept of making the thing look like a cross with the sponsons, really makes the land raider look unique. All the extra sister parts really finish the model,i love it! Great work! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153142-sisters-of-battle-land-raider/#findComment-1785009 Share on other sites
Morte
Holy Heck. This actually looks like something you'd see in a cathedral. Correction, it looks like a cathedral, period. Busy, lots going on, and dripping with opulence. Peredyne
Praise the emperor and pass the ammunition! Very much in the 40K ecclesiarchy mindset. I love it! Ganuus
Well done, OTT in the the inquisitorial fashion. I'm not sure about the square front, but other than that, it's great. ShinyRhino
Nicely converted, but if you put that thing on the table during a tourney, I'd cry shenanigans due to almost double footprint it takes up. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153142-sisters-of-battle-land-raider/#findComment-1785635 Share on other sites
Doctor Thunder
Nicely converted, but if you put that thing on the table during a tourney, I'd cry shenanigans due to almost double footprint it takes up. :P Double the footprint? It has one extra inch on the front doors and two extra inches on each sponson. That is hardly double the footprint. Come on ShinyRhino, don't you think players should be able to convert and bring nice models like this to a tournament without having to worry about someone raising a stink about it? :P ...Wait, or were you kidding? If you were kidding disregard my post. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153142-sisters-of-battle-land-raider/#findComment-1785654 Share on other sites

The Nephilim
Awesome model. My second thought was how are you ever going to get that thing in cover? Vassakov
That is without a doubt one of the most impressively OTT conversions I have ever seen. Personally, I think it's incredibly ostentatious and cumbersome - on the other hand that's my general view of anything church-like so you've clearly done a good job. In fact, it's beginning to grow on me as I type this... maquisapa
I already replied on 40k.online.com, but I'll just add that I'm glad to see the more positive tone of the responses here. I'm really beginning to think that I like the attitude in this web board better. I can't wait to see this painted. What is your paint scheme? ChapniK
have to reattache my jaw. Holy left nostrol of the one who sits on the golden throne that is amazing. Srew the footprint, how mush does that thing weigh. As always Doc thunder, this is amazing work. By the way what is the paint scheme going to be.
