Modeling Wings on IW Daemon Prince

I'm in the middle of making up an Soul Grinder and using it as a Iron Warrior Daemon Prince (or more specifically a daemon bound within a metal/organic shell, like the Defiler) and for table top effectiveness, I wanted to give it Wings.

However I think adding wings to the back of the model would look goofy, so I'm looking for a good alternative.

So far, I've just thought about adding jump packs, either to the base or each leg, to give it "boosters"

But I'm there there are other ideas out there.

Ya, the wings would have to be HUGE to lift that spider body. On top of that, if they were mounted on the upper (biological?) torso, as soon as he took flight the weight of the rest of his body would swing down and forward, resulting in him basically flying while looking straight up at the sky.

Maybe try digging up some older looking Jet Engines like from some plastic jet model and mount them facing upward or tilted forward a bit where the spider legs are presently. Then you can either greenstuff them up or glue plastic GW bits on them to make em more chaosy. This would result in a very crude "hover" platform, like VTOL type of thing. This would mean you had to use a flight base but it would deff be original.

dunno if it helps but for my IW DP based on Ghazguls body, i used a pulled apart and cut down land speeder that i fashioned to look somewhat like an overly large jetpack/jump pack. it seems to do the trick fairly well, although might still be a little small for a delifer sized DP
