minigun762
Has anyone had any luck using these as a delivery system for their non-Daemon Prince HQs? I know alot of people go with Jump Packs or Wings for that extra distance, but the Bike seems to be a fair alternative. For the extra 10 points you're getting +1T, a TL Bolter and Turboboosting for speed and protection. However you can't fit him in a Transport anymore. I've always thought that a Chaos Lord with generic Daemon Weapon and Bike would be fun. S5 T5 I5 and lots of attacsk on the charge. Or a Chaos Sorcerer with Wind of Chaos, running around flaming things left and right. lord arkon
I know a few people who use a bike but usually only for their sorcerors, not entirely sure why but thats the trend for some reason though they often like using a similar tactic to the one you described with Winds of Chaos. But have you considered termie armour? My lord with his retinue of 5 all tooled up can deepstrike almost wherever they want within reason, this has come in very handy since he's off the table for some of the game and in the crucial moments he can come in fresh and do loadsa damage. This is my strategy but just wondered if you've given it a thought. But sounds like a good idea to me mate especially with the sorceror. Are you on about giving him a retinue though? Even with the extra protection of the bike it would come in handy! JamesI
I haven't tried it yet, mainly because I haven't built the figure yet, but I want to try a Tzeentch Sorceror on a bike some time. Not sure what powers to give him yet. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153329-bikes-for-chaos-lordssorcerers/#findComment-1786835 Share on other sites
Warp Angel
In 5th ed, Bikes are amazing tools of destruction when fielded in large squads. 1) Keep them in reserve. This way your expensive unit doesn't get pounded to scrap before they do anything. 2) When they come in from reserve, you get to pick WHERE they go. This allows you to minimize incoming firepower against them while maximizing their offensive output. 3) Whenever possible move 12", shoot, assault, massacre. With that in mind, no bike squad should be deployed without a character attached to it. It gives them the melee punch they lack. Looking at it from the flip side, a character on a bike unsupported is asking to be overwhelmed. Sure it may kill stuff, but it probably won't survive the game. Give the bikes the mark of Nurgle and you've got T6 3+ saves zooming around turning enemy squads into ex-squads while being durable enough that they'll survive the game. Give the bikes the mark of Khorne and you've got slightly less survivable T5 3+ saves causing hate and discontent in CC at a speed about that of assault marines, but with more attacks. Give the bikes mark of Tzeench for an invulnerable save, and you've got something close to a Nurgle bike. With the mark of Slaanesh, you're going to usually go first in hand to hand, minimizing casualties. I don't think it's as survivable as the MoN, or as overall killy as the MoK. About the only disadvantage aside from cost is that the unit isn't scoring. Cornelias
mount of slaanesh isn't too bad either or the disc for your sorc ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153329-bikes-for-chaos-lordssorcerers/#findComment-1787007 Share on other sites

That'd be the same tooled up termie squad that lost 2 members to my 4 bolters right? :P Sorcerer with wind would be the only thing I'd put on a bike, anything else is better served with wings, so they can hide in transports. Shaolin_Monkey
i use a nurgle sorc on a bike, partly for the toughness 6, but also for the fun of zooming around the board and splurting Nurgles Rot on people, seems pretty effective against low toughness armies but less so against marines etc Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153329-bikes-for-chaos-lordssorcerers/#findComment-1788486 Share on other sites
CelestialSon
Sorcerer with wind would be the only thing I'd put on a bike, anything else is better served with wings, so they can hide in transports. So true, wings do not change you to jump infantry, just move as such. Why would anyone take jump packs? I would consider a disc of tzeentch as well, if you're running a sorc with warptime. The combination of attacks, rerolls and force weapon is tempting.... now where is that sky shark when you need it?
