Richter Kless
Greetings all, An exile from the warseer forums, I have come here for my geeky fix and decided to kick of good with a new army idea I have been planning for a long time. One of the new creations of the 4th edition, are the Beasts of Annihalation, a renegade warband completely and utterly corrupted by Chaos beyond all recognition and redemption. The name of the band suggests to me that they can hardly still be called 'marines'. I was mostly just wondering what kind of armylist I should make with this? Right now I was thinking of a Daemon Prince and a Sorceror. 3 Possessed Squads. (their random nature will hopefully cause each unit to act differently, thus keeping it interesting) But when it comes to troop choices it becomes harder. My first idea was to use Khorne Berzerkers, because they are the most savage of all and seem best to represent wild beasts. (though not as far gone as the possessed) For fast attack, I was thinking of taking Raptors (love the models) and Spawn. Using the gift of Chaos, I coud hopefully increase the number of Spawn and thus increase their effectiveness. For Heavy Support I thought of Obliterators (possessed terminators), and perhaps a defiler or Vindicator (I have a really cool conversion idea involving the Hellcanon). So what does the internet overall think of my list and idea? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153342-beasts-of-annihalation/ Share on other sites
MuGGzy
sounds fun. Now that they have the "counts-as" rule, you could use chaos spawns as Berzerkers if you really wanted too, and winged possesed as raptors etc. What "god" were you thinking of having these guys aligned to? minigun762
I got the sense of them (mostly from their color scheme) that they were Khorne followers. However I think of them in a different light than Beserkers. They are more feral, bestial in nature. No sense of honor or martial code that we see in Beserkers (even the really crazy ones). Kind of like a cross between World Eaters and Space Wolves. Angry, savage, daemonic animals. For that I'd go with lots of Lightning Claws, as its a nice symbolic weapon. Mark of Khorne and Twin Claws is a damn killy combo. For your Troops, use CSMs with Icon of Khorne, maybe mix in some Possessed or Space Wolf bits depending on how it would work. Units should be geared up for close combat, so take the Champion (Fist or Weapon would work) and Meltas/Flamers. Spawns aren't a great unit, thats just the poopy truth. That shouldn't stop you from using it if you like it though. An interesting idea that I just had was to use the Spawn model as your Champion, I'm sure you could find an arm thats claw like (for Power Fist) or spiky/sharp (for Power Weapon). Raptors seem fitting, like birds of prey or vultures, again rather animalistic. For Heavy's I'd go with Daemonically Possessed vehicles, as the Marines who crewed them would probably be out tearing the enemy in half, so the daemons come in and take control. Sons of Horus
just remember that if you don't want them to look like marines convert them until they don't especially for your troops and fast attack. i suggest the defiler and not the vindicator since it is more chaosy.
