Drop Pod conversion question....

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

I've just picked up my first DP, and I am going to be using mine mainly for deadnought drops. Are there any tips / instructions for configuring the new DP for this use. And can it be worked out that its able to be used for both? Any tips / tricks would be great!

Thanks!

After assembling 9 of these bad boys I have several tips to help you get it together right. File/clean all flashing off the pieces. This will help it fit together correctly. Before you fit the side bars that hold the top piece (the turbine looking part) in place, complete the doors and base of the drop pod. once all the doors are in, put them in the up/closed position, and center the middle turbine piece in between all five of the doors. Tack them there temporarily if possible. Then carefully glue the supports onto the base and in between the doors (careful not to glue the doors themselves shut). This is the the method I used to get the doors to close properly. Every other way I tried only half of them would ever shut. Oh... and this may seem obvious, but just in case, leave out the harness bits on the inside if your drop pod is for dreadnoughts.
When you figure it out, I encourage you to post pics, and instructions (not necessarily a tutorial) because I plan on having 5 of these, and 2 of them for Dreadnoughts. So if you could, that'd help me out a lot!

I'm going for 3 dready DP's, Will do mate... :)

Cheers

Dread DP's are easier, just don't do the inside, which is the hardest part.

If you want the turret to rotate here is what you do, the center tube thing on the engine has a stick that goes down to where it will touch the turret, just glue to stick to the hole on the turret and it will rotate and stay on properly, plus you can just rotate the cone thing to rotate the turret.

I just made up my first drop pod as a dreadnought one...

I cut the mount for the central pillar away and used some brass mesh to make a wee vent in the centre of the pod, this of course is entirely optional. You'll find it a very, very snug fit for a dread, but it'll do the job :D

hope this helps

Are you going to cut that pillar? Well..most likely, I don't know how you'll be able to fit the Dready without it.. =-D

Here...Australia is the only site that hasn't gone crappy yet.

There is a Tutorial on making Ravenwing bases for Drop Pod Dreadys.
