Apogee
I played a 1500 game vs a IG player last night. He had 3 Lemans and a Chimera, against my Sisters who had allied in an =][= Lord and a pack of 3 Daemonhosts. I used my hosts as armour killers - now that all assaults are against rear armour, hitting the back of a tank with S6 is quite deadly. The Daemonhost gets D6 + 1 attacks, which ususally hit on 4+, and glance on 4+. So, on average 4.5 attacks, half hit, half damage... so average one glance. Pretty good. In practice, my 'hosts claimed two of the tanks, with an exorcist nailing the last one. My 'hosts teleported behind one, and timeshifted to another. Also, with the 4+ invulnerable, they have a chance to surive to try again - pity about instant death, tho. So: for the much maligned lack of AT that the grey knights have, is the Daemonhost a viable solution? My success says yes, but I'd like to hear some opinions. Gaz1858
for the much maligned lack of AT that the grey knights have, is the Daemonhost a viable solution In short unfortuantely no. Grey Knights can not be taken with an army that has daemonhosts. But for a radical inquisitor army theyre fun to use. Adoremus
What heretical thinking of using GK and demonhosts at the same time...sorry for being so Monodominant. Why not, I see the value in them if they manage to teleport, but quite frankly, demonhosts are quite costly and my GK also have S6 attacks. Gentlemanloser
demonhosts are quite costly and my GK also have S6 attacks Yeah, three DH would get you about a 6 man PAGK Squad. If it's the DS for hitting Tank in CC, slot them as FA and if your opponents let you, use the IA2 update and get a Drop Pod with a Locator Beacon. DS them off that, then the turn after hit the Tank in CC with your S6 NFW. Apogee
Right, I completely forgot that GK can't be taken with Daemonhosts. Doh ><. Anyhow, I guess they're a good AT option for Radicals, or anyone but GKs. Which doesn't help them at all :(. Aidoneus
That strategy really wouldn't work with GKs. Sitting still for a turn in his back lines before charging the tank would be disastrous, especially against a guard player (so many guns... shudder). NFW against tanks are good if you happen to end up next to one, but it's not something I'd build a strategy around. Daemonhosts, at the end of the day, are mainly just for fun. You have 255 points of unreliable, 3 KP, non-scoring, insta-killable silliness. Don't get me wrong, they can be very effective. I have a friend who plays spacies and loves allying-in a shooty Inq Lord and 3 'Hosts, and they often do very well for him. But they're not reliable enough to build strategies around. Hella fun though! Whenever I see the 'hosts on his roster, I know immediately that it'll be an hilarious, exciting game. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153481-daemonhosts-the-new-at/#findComment-1789083 Share on other sites
