[WIP] Imperial Claws Company

Recommended Posts

After a week of excessive cleaning, glacially slow assemble and finally priming them with a black undercoat, my Marines are ready to be painted. Here's what I've gotten pictures of tonight before my camera's batteries died. For future reference there's two Tactical Squads, a Razorback, a Venerable Dreadnought and an Honor Guard Squad to come!

Chapter Master Incognito ( place holder name, 'counts as' Pedro Kantor )

Woah those are some pretty extreme chainsaw bayonets! Maybe a bit too extreme? But otherwise I'm loving the poses. Also, what is the color scheme for this chapter?

At first I thought they were too long but now they've grown on me. The paint scheme is dark purple with off-white for the trim, aquila and helmets, with gold for any skulls or iconography like Terminator honors.

Completely finished painting my Sargent, who's the standard for the rest of my army. If you're wondering I always start with unit leaders\special weapon guys first because they're less streamlined to paint quickly and always have more plastic\metal on them to cover. To my dismay I have no matte finish left and will have to wait until later before I base him. >:|

Here's some shots of the rest of the Tactical Squad. Just the helmets and aquila are painted so far. The rest should flow easily from there.

Strike-Master Dejan of 3rd Company. Special Operations expert, a tactical genius at hit and run and fast assault. Single handedly re-wrote the book ( or rather, reintroduced the Codex Astartes ) to the Imperial Claws during a time when they had grown couched in static warfare and 'formal doctrines to combat'. Every Scout in the Imperial Claws must know his scriptures by heart before they can claim the title of Battle-Brother.

Can't decide which one I like better. :o

the helmetless looks as if it's not even attached to the body Oo

But otherwise a nice conversion. I'm not too sure about the fluff, though, if I understand it correctly. Rewriting the Codex Astartes is sort of a No-Go for loyalist chapters I think. Not sticking to it in some parts, okay, but actually rewriting it, no I don't think so.

He more or less reintroduced it to the chapter.

'RAGRAGH STUPID ELDAR WON'T STAND AND FIGHT LIKE MEN!' 'Uh, guys.. there's a reason why this is in the Codex.' <- sums it up.

To my dismay I was informed of how similar my color scheme and Chapter origins ( Fists successors ) are to the Soul Drinkers. It's impossible to be completely origin with all the many DIY chapters out there but I will not allow myself to be confused for a canon chapter that has an entire Black Library series written after them.

For alternatives I am thinking of either Red, metallic\silver or bronze\gold, keeping with the white aquila and helmets.

You're purple and bone whilst the Soul Drinkers are purple and gold. I don't think you're that similar. You'll have different Chapter badges, etc. You might run into some confusion on the gaming table, but that's the curse of DIY - people see your blue Marines and assume Ultramarines. They might not know your name when you deploy, but by turn six, they'll never forget you! :)

**UPDATE**

Guess what arrived in the mail today..?

Oh yeah. My afternoon disappeared into the hours I spent washing this guy and cleaning off all that flash. Here's a pic of it unassembled.

I love the commanders HUGE stormbolter and you strike master, especially his Lightning claws!

Thanks! The Commander had his Stormbolter hijacked for a better model as I feel it was way too play for Pedro Kantor. The original model has been merged into a unit of Vanguard Veterans.

I just base coated the Strike-Master tonight. His Lightning Claws are taken from OOP metal Terminator ones that I cut then pinned to plastic arms. Probably my favorite Lightning Claw bits from the entire line.

I decided to keep the colors for the same reasons we discussed earlier and because I really hate repainting models.
