X-Slash-X
Hey guys. I've currently got a Blog going over on Librarium Online, for my participation in the Tale of Painters event underway there. I've decided to make a similar Blog here, so I can get more opinions on my progress, especially due to this being a Space Marine forum. So far, I've used a Joker for my first month, because my initial HQ model was giving me grief. Here is the army list: HEADQUARTERS Pedro Kantor ++Power Armour ++Dorn's Arrow ++Power Fist ++Iron Halo ++Krak Grenades ++Frag Grenades ++++Orbital Bombardment ++++Inspiring Presence ---175 Points ELITES Sternguard Veteran Squad ++10 Veterans ++++Bolter(5) ++++Combi-Plasma(2) ++++Combi-Melta(2) ++Sergeant ++++Power Fist ---295 Points Sternguard Veteran Squad ++6 Veterans ++++Bolter(3) ++++Missile Launcher(2) ++Sergeant ++++Chainsword ---160 Points TROOPS Tactical Squad ++10 Marines ++++Bolter (7) ++++Plasma Gun ++++Plasma Cannon ++Sergeant ++++Chainsword ---185 Points Tactical Squad ++10 Marines ++++Bolter (7) ++++Plasma Gun ++++Plasma Cannon ++Sergeant ++++Chainsword ---185 Points I don't have much Fluff at the moment, but I will say that my army are known as The Black Hand (Named for CnC's Nod faction). They are what would be usually considered as the 1st Company of their Chapter, but stand apart from their Brethren as a separate entity. I'm not quite sure on the details yet, but I've decided that the Chapter was created during one of the Imperium's expansion periods, and were tasked with attending, or 'escorting' a certain AdMech Explorator Fleet. The Black hand (1st Company) spend the majority of their time in the company of the AdMech, whilst the rest of the Chapter assisted in the Pioneering of Compliant worlds. This created a certain Schism in the Chapter, and so the Black Hand stand apart from their Brethren, and are less used to Human Contact, feeling more at home with Machines. I'll add more details as it develops, but for the moment I'll mainly focus on the Models, which are Iron-Hands inspired. This will be their colour Scheme. The Shoulder colour of the Tactical Marine (which will be of a Marble texture) is the colour of the original Chapter: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v622/X-Slash-X/Tale%20of%20Painters%20-%20The%20Black%20Hand/blackhandmk2.jpg The Chapter (or in this case Company) Badge will be a cross between the Iron Hands and The Imperial/Crimson Fists, and I will be using both shoulder designs throughout my army. So without further ado, here is my latest HQ, which counts as Pedro Kantor (if you want to see my original, and rather sloppy design, visit my page on LO. The link is above): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v622/X-Slash-X/Tale%20of%20Painters%20-%20The%20Black%20Hand/November%202008/Nov_Master_11.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v622/X-Slash-X/Tale%20of%20Painters%20-%20The%20Black%20Hand/November%202008/Nov_Master_12.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v622/X-Slash-X/Tale%20of%20Painters%20-%20The%20Black%20Hand/November%202008/Nov_Master_13.jpg If your wondering how I became so skilled, don't lol. The Cape and Armour Plates were made by Scibor (Look him up on CMoN) as a commission I paid for last year. It was originally a Black Templar Marshal, but as I have shelved those minis for now, I decided it would serve better in my new army. It has since been primed, and I am currently working on the Marble parts (The Greenstuff Leg and Shoulder Plates). Alys Dwr
Missile launchers? Nice idea, it makes for a very bulky pack! Al Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153791-the-black-hand-x-slash-xs-army-blog/#findComment-1793127 Share on other sites

Marshal van Trapp
oh... my... god... that thing is awesome, i bow to your greatness, i love the use of the chaos lightning claw for a power fist and using a plasma pistol to make the relic bolter thingy so... well relic-y (sure that's a word) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153791-the-black-hand-x-slash-xs-army-blog/#findComment-1793328 Share on other sites
X-Slash-X
.. Wow. You blow my 'counts as Pedro Kantor' conversion out of the water, into the atmosphere and across the entire solar system. :) Good job! Thanks bro! Wow, he is a big ^^ I don't recognize the torso and helmet Oo. And what's the backpack made of? It's really cool Both the Torso and the Helmet are from the Iron Hands Box. I chose the head with the wires across most of the scalp, and Greenstuffed over some to smooth it out a bit. As mentioned above, the Backpack is made using two Missile Launchers. The base Pack is from the Chaos Marine box, though. Missile launchers? Nice idea, it makes for a very bulky pack!Al That's what I was aiming for. Seeing how the Model itself is Big and Imposing, I wanted a suitable Backpack. I also found that the MLs look very Hi-Tech when used this way. Want... Lol. Thanks, I guess... oh... my... god... that thing is awesome, i bow to your greatness, i love the use of the chaos lightning claw for a power fist and using a plasma pistol to make the relic bolter thingy so... well relic-y (sure that's a word) Don't bow to me, the most awesome parts are made by someone else (Scibor). I found that using the Chaos Lord Claw is bigger and more Imposing, as opposed to the generic Space Marine 'Sergeant-Grade' Fists. Also, due my my Chapter relying heavily on Plasma-Tech, I had to make 'Dorn's Arrow' into something similar. I've just finished my first few Layers of Codex Grey Paint. Once I've added the next layer (Fortress Grey), I'll try to upload some more Images. rosac
although the lords claw is more imposing, i cannot help but feel that this mini isn't balanced enough, and that the claw seems to be the focus point, rather than the head. I still think its great, but maybe a slightly smaller fist (like the lords power fist/ chainfist) would be better. One final critical point, the pose is a bit... wierd. Generally, you dont challenge someone when you havent even readied your weapon, and thats what he seems to be doing... everything else though is unbelievable, looking forward to the painted pix! rosac Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153791-the-black-hand-x-slash-xs-army-blog/#findComment-1793612 Share on other sites
Asmodeus' Swordhand
The kantor is amazing, but as rosac said, He looks off balanced. However I think it has to do with the size of his left arm, not the claw. Some great work you've done there. Solid list, good fluff, and a very nice looking scheme ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153791-the-black-hand-x-slash-xs-army-blog/#findComment-1794009 Share on other sites
X-Slash-X
I see what you mean by looking off-balance. However, I think the pose might have something to do with it as well. At the moment (In the images), the Torso is just sitting on top of the Legs with Blu-Tac in between. When I've finished painting, he will look more hunched over forward, to compensate for the Claw. That being said, I was aiming for an overdone arm (in size, that is), as I can picture the Character heaving the Claw around with a slight limp in his step, due to the extensive Bionics throughout his body. I'm going for a 'General Grievous' look, of sorts. Asmodeus' Swordhand
He certainly has the 'grievous' atmosphere :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/153791-the-black-hand-x-slash-xs-army-blog/#findComment-1794146 Share on other sites
