Eldar, when to use psychic powers?

Hello all!

I have a question for you all! When do Eldar players cast their psychic powers? I understand that any power with a shooting profile is used in the shooting phase but what about the others like fortune and guide? My girlfriend (who play the Eldar) was kind of disappointed (raged! :) ) when it looked like these powers only can be cast on the start of the turn, before any movement has been done. This make them much harder to use, especially with the short range of fortune and guide.

Is this the case, or am I reading it wrong?

Also, a bonus question! Can an eldar farseer use a psychic power inside a transport when the target of the power is another unit in the same transport?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, indeed. Unless a shooting psychic power is cast (in the Shooting Phase), you cast all Eldar psychic powers at the start of the turn. This is traditionally defined as being before movement.

Bonus answer: It's a bit iffy. Assuming the psychic power doesn't require LOS, then yes.

It's in her book on page 28, but to summarize:

Start of the turn:

- Fortune

- Guide

- Doom

Shooting Phase

- Eldritch Storm

- Mind War

Bonus answer: Yes, she can use any psychic powers while in a transport so long as they aren't shooting attacks that require line of sight (mind war), as Eldar transports have no fire points. So yes, she may cast Fortune or Guide on the unit in the vehicle with the Farseer, the vehicle itself, or any other Eldar unit within 6" (including a squad in a different transport!). The farseer may also fly around in the vehicle, Dooming everything without having to step outside, then Eldritch Storming those things just to be sure.

The powers are actually very easy to use, since Farseers shouldn't be out wandering alone, as that's how they die. They should be joined with a squad at all times (to complement their abilities with psychic shennanigans).

Though how this is related to PA at all is beyond me...

Seahawk, this is in rules for rules (the gravis):

For the purpose of clarification:

You may ask rules questions about any rules relating to Warhammer 40k. They do not have to be just those rules contained with the Marine Codex or PA related rules in the Big Black Book.

Please keep in mind though that this is not a license to post things like Eldar army lists or your latest Necron models.

If you have questsion in relations to rules effecting those armies or the armies fighting them, fine. Anything beyond that gets the melta!

Bonus answer: Yes, she can use any psychic powers while in a transport so long as they aren't shooting attacks or require line of sight (eldritch storm and mind war), as Eldar transports have no fire points.

All correct except Eldritch Storm. It is a shooting attack, but does not need LOS.
