panbient
has anyone else tried the broken alliance scenario? my friends and i gave it a whirl tonight with 800 point lists as a fresh way of getting back into the game after a few months off. i had sisters vs. tau and tyranids. it hurt  we use a 6' x 4' table and deployment became pretty limited by the 3rd player (me). either way the game was a blast and we'll likely be playing it more often as opposed to a pair of 1 on 1 matches while the other guy watches. Chengar Qordath
I did a four-way battle once; Tyranids, Chaos, Space Wolves, and my Inquisition army. I ended up winning thanks to some good rolls, one or two good moves, and the fact that I was the lucky person that got a little ignored in the four-way fight. It was wild fun, but four 1500-point armies take a long time to play, especially since we kept rolling 1s for the end of game. Tauren
Proper way to play this is with a giant triangle table... ^..~ or a circle because you can equally split it up. Wulfen Lord Leo
Did that sort of game once in 4th ed, it was my friend (Ultramarines with added space marines from me, I think I was trying Fighting Tigers at the time), me (Ultra's with added marines again) and his dad, who has the absolute worst luck, with my friends 'nids army. we rolled and figured the highest chooses one board edge, then the lower two roll again, whoever wins deploys oppisite, whoever loses deploys inbetween. Tauren
You could do something simple... Get some chalk and draw on the basement (hopefully concrete?) floor. Simple circle, separate it into 3 pieces... walla! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/154184-3-player-game/#findComment-1798555 Share on other sites
Aidoneus
My friends and I do multiplayer games about as often as 1-vs-1 games. For 4 people, we typically go with teams, although sometimes we do play free-for all. 3-person games are pretty common, and we've worked out the following system for deployment zones: one person is in the middle of one long table edge, with a 3'x1' deployment zone; the other two people are in the corners on the other long table edge, and their deployment zones are 24" along the long edge and 18" along the short edge. Thaelion Hexis
Similar here, Aidoneus. We often have a little extra scenery for the player in the middle. Unfortunately, depending on who's house we are playing at, one particular table can be a little small. First turn charge with my Dark Eldar HQ and Talos... GodwynDi
Except, the counter to that first turn charge is that everything can be kept in reserve now, risky but better than being charged right off the bat. ArmouredWing
My gaming group tend to get together once every fews weeks for a full weekend and we uaually finish off with a multiplayer free for all (which often ends up in making and then breaking alliances, much back stabbing fun to be had!). Of all the games these tend to be the most fun because we play using the old CP restrictions, a fairly low Pts cost and a randon turn sequence (each turn we each roll to see who gets the initiative and then play in that order). I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone who plays in groups, it's a lot of fun!
