@shadowfire

Nope, didnt know about that site, interesting reads, though I just go onto snipping and assembling my gunpla (then play with it like an action figure, reason why I dont go further like painting and kitbashing)

OffTopic: besides, I've already reached my goal of 1/144 Gundam Ez8... the 1/144 Dendrobium will have to wait till I get a job =(

@Bro. Deager Helsir

Be sure that it's the side-flush cutting one (diagonal) like the one GW have (see below) compared to the usual household wire cutters that leave a jagged cut as shown in pic posted above (compare the business ends of the two)

HTH :cry:

Aye, an update is due, but I feel there's nothing much to show at this stage... anyways...

... I feel that it's starting to wear on me: I'm having difficulties creating the shoulderpads (or the idea of it :)); also the helm/head, trying not to make it look like a jap mecha (or specifically, L-Gaim). Still waiting for the putty to cure though: still have to sand the ones on the groin armor as well as the 'seams' on the shoulderpads...

Cheers!

I need a bailout too, but would only need less than a million USD compared to the big 3 :P

I would suggest using an Inquisitor scale space marine helmet for the head. And I would also suggest more humanoid hands; perhaps powerfists, or again, perhaps chunks of an Inquisitor scale model wouldn't go amiss.

Thanks everybody :)

Aye, thanks for the suggestion :P a problem though: I'm cashstripped atm so I may have to improvise a bit more, and even if I have, it isnt sold anywhere in this country (though there's a idea I'll toy about regarding the DCCWs ;) )

A suitably sized knight's helmet from an old toy or such might work if you need to make do with stuff you already have. That would make it distinct from most any Japanese mecha while still fitting with the space marine design theme.

As for close combat weapons/arms... What are you planning, including for the ranged weapons? I might be able to help you scheme up the household items/bitz to synthesize them from.

^This will be a Furioso pattern donut, so DCCW, meltagun and (planned) swappable storm bolter/heavy flamer... as for the arm, am trying to cook up one in 3dsmax first before I go onto my workbench and sniff up s'more solvent :huh:

Cheers!

Well, obviously we'll all have to wait on your render before talking about the DCCWs, but the guns ought to be simple enough. I suggest attaching them to the dread's "forearms" in a side-slung fashion, like a Wraithlord's flamers or a GK's storm bolter. The meltagun you could straight up attach, and the storm bolter/heavy flamer you could easily make swappable with the use of either magnets or a sprue-made tab-and-slot type thing.
i'm completely stunned by that creation, i mean i thought my abilty to turn a flat pack land raider (aka a former crusader that i trashed along with two rhino chassis', i'm still kicking myself for it) into a battle wagon was impressive and make other imperial tanks orky but you just crushed that. thats extremely impressive, reminds me of an old warboss idea (warboss put into dreadnought armour, mega-mega-armour! lol) but i feel you should of lef the chest flat and the shoulders need something less over the top, your dread suits blocky design and don't bother trying to gundamise a dreadnought design, height doesn't not permit effective look (unless you call it a chibi gundam!) so i would go for say more along the lines of finding old tank armour plating and using that and fill the gaps, blockyness is the dreads key feature to coolness. another note is why not GW plastic glue or super glue, it works just as well and if anything isn't as dangerous. anyway, keep going, building stuff (esspecially marine stuff) from scratch isn't easy but the result speaks for itself.

My first thought after seeing this pic was:

Optimus Prime!

And thats a compliment B)

That dude looks awesome!!!

This looks good... I like it. Hate to say this, but I liked it more before you puttied the weird lengthened head onto it... I really liked the pic with the red DCCW arms. It looked good, albeit a littel humorous.

@Deager

I plan to have the weapons underslung as it'll have a bracer of some sort (see bottom pic, will have to wait for the final render)

@454

Thanks mate! I understand what you mean (like the post from the first page with the links on the "I dont know what you're talking about" sentence (Need to fill up the left armpit too)

Also, I'm more keen on using plastic cement than super glue, I have more control over my work (Aint the "GW Plastic Glue" not a glue per se but a cement?)

@Caedrius

Hahaha, seems it does!

@Andrecus

Yes, I do get that feeling from time2time: that I shouldve left the helmet as is/minor mods than to have a brow that tall AND just slap on those DCCW arms and call it quits.

Anyways, the (current GW) chassis of the dreads doesnt effectively permit such an armor design (not counting Squats). I agree: the blockyness is a dread's feature, but being a Blood Angel, I want something worthy to be placed beside Dante, Mephiston and Tycho's ornate artificer armor

Cheers guys!
