Return of the Templars

I've been asking questions lately about Salamanders and Relictors, and started putting some models together and alas the lure of the Templar got me and I've ended up with 2 new Templar models, one which I require help one and the other I just thought I'd share with you for comments and questions.

The first that I need help with is just a standard Templar figure, however I debating on painting half his helmet White and I need your opinions, I've attached a rough pic of the area using photoshop so you know which bit I'm on about, let me know if you think that's a good idea to paint white 'cos that's what I'm currently thinking of.

The other figure involved lots of cutting and glueing, chopping arms etc.. but what I've done is try to create a desperado type figure wielding dual bolt pistols in a kinda last stand kinda way, I imagine him to be the last member of his squad defiantly holding off the enemy horde before he runs out of ammo and draws his sword which is strapped to his back.

Again any comments or questions would be helpful.

Cheers,

I think the helmet would look fine painted up two-tone. Have you any more of those same heads? I ask because I often associate helmets with colours split in that manner with Optimus Prime, and so I wonder if you think a helmet painted like you have photoshopped would look best on a Castellan or someone ranking higher than a bolter Initiate. That's just one school of thought, however. Another, which I also follow, is that every Black Templar is an individual warrior and our Crusade's offer a lot more freedom of expression than regular Codex adherent armies, giving you license to do what you want with each futuristic knight.

Before your desperado need unsheath his sword, and after he's fired off his last rounds, seeing as how his bolt pistols are shackled to his forearms, might he resort to flailing them around a la nunchaku?

Update...

Didn't manage to get as much done as I wanted due to my 5 month of puppy wanting to play and generally starting to wreck the house, so had to rush a bit.

Painted the white on the shoulder pads and starting to do both the robes and cloth on both figures.

Was tempted to do the robe the same colour scheme as the eagle of the other marine (bolter marine) by having shadow grey, space wolfs grey, all the way up to white, but wasn't sure if that would look too cold?? ideas????

Hurray!!

Pics aren't green this time!

:D

I like the poses and weapon choices. The base colors look correct. I think theres alot of potential here. And idea on the black highlighting? Is it going to see only a hard edge highlight or are you going to play with grey build-ups?

Good luck with it.

:)

The black armour I was simply going to use extreme highlighting on, with the codex grey to fortress grey mix, I used it on my other templar and quite liked the way it turned out.

I was wondering about building up the robes (maybe on my next templar) from a shadow grey basecoat, to shadow grey/space wolfs grey highlight, all the way up to white, but wasn't sure if it would make the model look too cold??

Having said that, these figures are going to be placed onto snow bases (I've got a snow theme going on for my templars, think the white bases are a great off set for the black armour).. Maybe I'll give it a go and see how they turn out.
