I just thought that as a nice diversion from my space marines (alpha legion style) i wanted a guard army to march beside with soem chaos marine allies... mayeb we sill see the back in some form. As CSM are great but y guess that the most common Chaos turned force are PDF units (at least almost every book GW has put out has it that way)

If you mainly used mutants and traitors (no traitor vehicles) along with CSM stuff, then the Kroot Mercinary rules (which afaik are still vlaid, and let a CSM army field a few kroot units) can do a decent job. Kroot have enough variety to do a decent "counts as" for a nice variety of the "savage warrior" types that might serve in certain LatD forces.

Actually, I considered doing this even when the LatD codex was valid; Kroot rock, and their fighting style fits my conception of Khorne oreinted LatD.

Hey,

Wouldn't your combined CSM and Guard armies total at least 3000 points?

A CSM/IG Alliance is perfectly within the rules for Apocalypse games, so go for it!

It depends as two different armies in part of a larger force yes. But LotD can also represent an Aspiring Champion who isn't powerful enough or have enough favour yet working to gain favour and respect of his peers. He may have a small following of 10-20 marines but most of his force = renegades, cultists, mutants and other assorted scum. That kind of army could easily be in 1,500pts. Thats what you can't do officially any more.

I suppose you could avoid conflicts by not including any of the actual CSM units. There's plenty of LatD units and IG units in there that can add up to a potent list. Mutants lose much of their resiliance without reroll Ld10, but meh. Friendly games you could prolly get away with it.

Still think they should have included Rogue Psyker and Apostate Cardinal in the HQ section...
