I approve. Not that it matters :D .

Thanks! :)

Also, under "Beliefs", could you add that the Black Templars accept the Grey Knights, as they have proven themselves pure despite being psykers.

Not a bad idea, I'll whip something up when I get a chance.

Emperor's Champion Angsar (I think) was featured in the first of the Black Library BT books. There was also a named Dreadnought, Marshal (Brandt I think) and Castellan who's names also escape me. Guess what else I can't remember: the name of the Crusade, naturally. Stupid goldfish brain... I'm also not sure about any details from the sequel novel, since it's impossible to find.

If I can find the first book in the next few days, I can probably elaborate on the above.

Do you mean the Battle for Armageddon book? It's stunning how hard to find some of these BL novels are and I didn't know there was a sequel. If you find it all the information you can get me would be great. I can't pay $150 bucks on Amazon for the darn thing ;). I really wish GW would speed up their reprinting of these things.

I do indeed mean those books. I e-mailed the BL once, and they told me they had "no plans to reprint either Armageddon books". Of course, that could change... but I too refuse to shell out so much money for one of their books, likely used to boot.

In Crusade for Armaggedon, here are the names :

Dreadnought : Jarold

Emperor's Champion : Ansgar

Castellan : Adlar

Chaplain : Wolfram

Standard Bearer : Brother Murtagh

If you need more let me know, I own both novels, and consider myself lucky about it

Thanks for posting those, I'm not sure where I packed my novel away.

Any chance you could leave me the second novel in your will? ;)

That's probably the fastest way to get a copy without paying 15 times what it's worth...

Ok I'll work those in.

If there's any additional information on the Armageddon Crusade from the books that isn't already in the article that would be good. Also what are the exact names of both books so I can include them in the reference list?

So the first book is Crusade for Armageddon (published in 2003, isbn 1-84416-025-4) and the second one is Conquest of Armageddon (published in 2005, isbn 1-84416-196-X)

I'm reading the first one again at the moment and there's something interesting about the EC.

++++++Spoiler alert+++++++

Fighting Company Adlar is cut off from BT command because of radio interference. The orders are to get to a rendezvous point in a certain direction, however according to the EC's vision they should go in the opposite direction. When the EC disagrees, respectfully but firmly, with Castellan Adlar as to where they should be heading, EC is backed by Chaplain Wolfram and eventually, Adlars decides to follow the EC's vision, completely disregarding his orders.

Two things are noticeable here : EC is so much involved and possessed that he dares speaking up against his hierarchy. Chaplain Wolfram's religious mission is also stronger than the chain of command.

Generally speaking, the holy mission (EC's visions) is more important than following orders aimed at defending the planet. I think this emphasizes the independent nature of Space Marines and BTs in particular.

The novel features :

- a Titan "Tyrannus Maximus" (Princeps is Magnus Ekhardt) that joins the BTs for the final fight.

- a platoon from the Steel Legion. It is led by Sergeant Jelkus Bane. Brother Dreadnought Jarold accompanies them

- an Imperial Lightning pilot from Blitz Squadron, Conrad Straeker

Hope it's enough !

  • 2 weeks later...

I've got to run out the door to go to work, but I was reading an old WD last night (US 288) and there is the IA: Land Raider article. On the poster that shows a UM LR with some cross sections, there is also a listing of some famous Land Raiders.

Among them, Boraneous Rex of the Vortigern Crusade.

I'm not sure if someone pointed it out already or not, but I have to run and I didn't have time to check!
