Thanks guys, work continues by the minute. In a little break I will reply to

Brother Mordeus:

I fear I have no good news for you :( It has been one of the most disturbing experiences of my painting life to get this thing white the way it is.

First I tried my method as on the marines. No good idea... If you try to layer white from COdex, over Fortress, finally Space wolves grey, topping it off with white, you´ll end up like me, with a twitching mad eye

I then tried to do it backwards, coming from white. The result was not bad, but not satisfying aswell. On white as primer everything looks dirty. Best is cover the damn thing in Spacewolves Grey, thinly applied for a smooth result, acouple of layers. Then shade with the greys and highlight with white. To get the effect you need to apply the colours in the basic NMM technique, everything upside down, i.E. the lighter colours down, the darker up. Study the pics, and you´ll get the idea.

The dirt is real easy. You need scorched brown, graveyard earth and that´s it. Brush it on randomly, preferably where the dirt comes first.

I wish you luck. Seriously, you´ll need it

However, if you are a beginner, prime the darn thing white and shade it off with fortress grey. Always work with thinned colours and you will have a nice result. Then add some dirt and damage (silver streaks and patches highlighted as learned) and you´ll be fine.

Cheers

Bart

that is so good that i would let you impregnate me. Full working ovaries don't come cheap. I would need to have a $20,000 surgery in order for me to bear your children seen as i am a man.

Very very nice freehand. Whats your gold recipe? sorry if you've already said it but i have not read your topic for ages. I was so happy to see it updated.

I am unsure what to think of this... :ermm:  ... I guess?

In case you are suffering these kinds of bouts more regularly than absolutely necessary, I recommend listening to this:

Thanks a lot guys!

I did a bit of work on the helmetless marine. Only some GSing, but it turned out nicely I think.

This will be fun to paint. It has a real segmented shoulderpad this time, which makes the shading far more interesting.

Thanks guys, pretty happy myself I find the time and motivation to do something on these again. I hink I mentioned it before, my motivation peeks when a battle is in sight, but having moved into the land of loneliness no battle is on the horizon.

However, now that things are sorted I can take my time for some cool modeling. The jump troops are very much built and greened, one helmet is missing, though... Has anyone noticed the new design? It

It´s been said a couple of times that they have that certain pre heresy feel to them or grey knightish. The purity, the loyalty. I imagine them marching into battle to the music of Iced Earths Tragedy and Triumph...

Awesome.

Happy new year

Because we all know it was about bloody time:

If you are interested what will come of this, skip back one page - the sketch will tell.

I have worked from a drawing before and got what I planned except some really minor tweaks. I have high hopes to be repeating this.

The head seems a bit out of place right now. Thinking of ways how to fix that I work on the pics of the orange marines. I saw they are en vogue again ;)

Cheers
