embuchho
I'll admit, I just got the WH codex and I am not done reading it yet. I'm trying to figure out a paint scheme for each troop type as they seem to look a lot like each other. For example, with my BTs, troops have black & white shoulders, FA has red & white, elites have red & black, and the command squad has gold & white. EC (who is kitbashed and doesn't resemble the regular EC figure) is gold & black. This way, it is easy to tell them apart (and it's also pretty close to the codex standards). Same idea with the codex space marines with their arrow, crossed arrows, reverse-V, etc. What I need to know is how many categories of troops are there that use Adeptus Sororitas Battle Sister figures? There are (not counting Repentia, Arco Flags, and non-Battle Sisters): - regular troops (Battle Sisters) - jumpers (seraphim) - mechanized infantry (just troops in a chimera or rhino? Called Dominians?) - heavy weapons (Retributor Squad - Are they a different troop type? Or just well equipped troops?) - command (cannonness) - elite infantry (celestians) Correct me if I am wrong, please, but it seems that all of these troop types use the same box & blisters of miniature figures (except for the seraphim). If so, then it would make sense to me to paint them differently so as to be able to tell them apart on the board. So, I guess my real question is, do the regular troops, elite sisters, and mechanized fast attack, all use the same box of minis? If so, they could be differentiated by different colored trim on the armor or by different colored cloth (red/white/black, for example). Thanks for your help. Melissia
Celestians, Battle Sisters, Dominians, and Retributors all use the same model range. Seraphim use their own model range. Canonesses can also use their own model range, although I prefer to modify a Sister Superior model with helmet myself. There isn't anything official, but generally speaking, here is how I am doing it: Battle Sisters: Ordinary paintjob. Dominians: Ordinary paintjob. Retributors: Ordinary paintjob. Sister Superiors: One shoulder painted gold or silver. Celestians: Helmet painted gold or silver depending on your color scheme. Celestian Sister Superior: Helmet and one shoulder painted gold or silver. Canoness: Helmet painted gold or silver, more ornate paintjob on trim, possibly one shoulder painted gold or silver as well. embuchho
Great ideas. You seem to understand my question. Any photos? Your scheme seems very sensible. Melissia
Nope, I don't have any pics. But remember, the codex does state that the Celestian helmets are a bit more ornate than the normal ones (in fact, they're supposed to have a fleur de lys on their forehead given the artwork, but that has to be converted and I find painting simpler and easier to duplicate).
