Redleg
Suppose a unit of Orks are sitting directly between my Plasma Cannon firing Tactical Squad and my Assault Squad that is waiting to rush into the fight. If the Plasma Cannon fires and scatters into the Assault Squad, would the Assault Squad be granted cover by the unit of Orks? Question 2: Are the Index Astartes updates tourney legal? Specifically, I found the details/rules for Raven Guard and wanted to know if I could use their rules in a GW tourney. If I created a Raven Guard successor chapter, could I also use those specific rules? And how does this interact with the new Space Marine Codex? HiveFleetEzekial
1) Yes. 2) Index Astartes was for 3E when such chapters and their successors had no codex to go by, other than a plain SM 'dex with no tweaks for them. SM have a new codex now, which should be used for any other SM chapters (and successors) besides DA/BA/SW/BT. If you *want* to use them, then you're better off asking the people you play with, than a forum of people you'll likely never meet. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/154892-cover-from-scattered-blast-templastes-ia-legal/#findComment-1807325 Share on other sites
Legatus
Those rules first became obsolete when the 4th Edition Codex was released and had traits for the chapters previously mentioned in the Index Astartes articles. Now we are even one generation further, with an all new Codex Space Marines. Playa
Hey, 1) Yes Disagree. To paraphrase - "Models are in cover when any part of the target model’s body is obscured." Not targetted = no Cover Save. Sorry, the Assault squad eats the Blast. 2) Index Astartes was for 3E Agree. Plus, tourney rules are at the whim of the organizer(s). Best bet is to play counts-as Raven Guard using the new Codex: SM. SeattleDV8
The assault squad becomes the target when the shot scattered. Yes they do get the cover save.
