Author
Hello, I'm new to the B&C. Well I don't know what to write actually(I'm rubbish at doing introductions). I hope you'll forgive me for not posting anything else before this. Well, as I said,I am new to B&C and I am also new to 40K and tabletop wargaming in general. Well, enough about me. My army is a DIY space marines chapter called the ''Iron Wolves''. The only thing done right now is the color scheme and an army list. Color Scheme The eyes will be red, I just forgot to paint them. I'm also thinking to change the white to metal, but I think white looks nicer. I don't actually have any real models on which to paint on until Wednesday. Army List This a army list I wrote up in about 5 minutes so it is likely to change. HQ Converted Chaplain - Have it, need to paint Command Squad - Haven't it Elite 1x Terminator Squad(5) - Have it, need to paint 1x Dreadnought - Have it, need to paint Troops & Transport 2x Tactical Squads(10) - Have 1 squad, need to paint 2x Rhinos - Haven't them Support 1x Land Raider - Haven't it 2x Predator Tanks - Haven't them Fast Attack 2x Assault Squad(s) Haven't them Brother Author Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/154926-iron-wolves-diy-wip/ Share on other sites
LTP
HI there welcome. Looking good so far. It doesnt look like you have any fast attack choices in there so you can add a couple of assault squads if you like. In a standard mission you can have up too 2 HQ's, 6 troop choices, 3 elites, 3 fast attack and 3 heavy support. 13skullz
Welcome to the BnC Actually, I think is a pretty small-sized, yet good-sized marine force. Like a strike force... Anyway, might I recommend an assault squad, just for some good ol' fst attack, maybe even a Vanguard veteran squad? My two cents, -Skullz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/154926-iron-wolves-diy-wip/#findComment-1807810 Share on other sites
Author
Thanks. I think I'll add a assault squad or vanguard squad then. I'm also taking away rhe dev squad since I think I have enough anti-tank firepower. Shortsonfire79
Well,I think you should buuyyyyy some models before you finalize your list. I like to make my list based on things I like to paint. I highly encourage you to get the Assault on Black Reach, because it comes with 5 termies, a Dready, and 10 marines, and a force commander. A great start. And since all of that is in your list, AND its cheap...Zangs a Damn. If you don't really want to do that..I encourage you to do it anyways, because since the models are so cheap, you can practice painting on the Orks. Since you're "new" to the hobby. Good luck, and welcome to the most expensive non-drug thing you'll ever find. Author
I ''have'' AoBR really(I'll get it as a christmas present). Im going to buy the space marine Battle Force too,and some snape fit marines for scheme testing. But I think I can't paint untill the 24th when I get AoBR since I ordered all my paintbrushes and paints with it. Altrough I might get a rhino painted and all of the troops basecoated. And maybe if I bug my mom into giving me some money I might get some paintbrushes. Author
Sorry for they double post but I just completed a alpha version of my fluff. Here's the fluff: The Iron Wolves are a relatively new chapter created in the Twenty Sixth Founding by a Primearch to defend a imperial world from ork attacks. Who the Primearch was, they know, but whose succsessor they are, they don't know, as the libarium containg the files was burnt down in an ork attack, and all the veteran marines from that chapter who tried to defend it and were killed. To make up for this, they collect information and intelligence, much like the Blood Ravens. Normaly the ork attacks would be handled by the Imperial Guard of the planet, but the orks have increased in number and the battles were turning into bloodbaths, the Imperial Guard losing many of their number. Why the orks have attacked the planet, none knows, but it is thought that the orks lost a important warboss in a battle on the planet many centuries ago and are back for revenge. Others think that the orks are tring to make a forward outpost for a larger invasion, but the claims have not been proven. The chapter has done well, and since it's arrival the orks have been pushed back to the planet's moon, altough hit-and-run attacks oncur daily and inteligence says that the orks are preparing for another grand assault on the planet. Another claim why the orks came to the planet was that they wanted to pilage it from it's natural resources, as the planet is very rich in them and enslave the people. The central exports are iron, wood and silver(the general imports being ork armies =D). The planet is also full of endless forests and mountains. The marines have often used it to their advantage, as they know their way around the forests while the orks do not, and can set up ambushes. Ontop of the tallest mountain on the planet lies the fortress of the chapter. The fortress is the central of all the chapters operations. It always contains at least one company either the 10th or one of the reserve companies. The planet also has supported the cause of the chapter, many of the Imperial Guard have joined the chapter to fight against the orks. The chapter is lead by the chapter master, Birmingham, originaly a guardsman, but he soon proved he value in combat by slaying 40 orks in battle. He prefers to fight with the 2nd or the 3rd company instead of the 1st,as he thinks that the 1st can fight without him. He is also a joker and is, well, british do to a fault in his transformation. The chapter master is always acompanied by a command squad or 2 or more veterans. When smaller taskforces are needed, the company can split up(half of it going to repel the raid of orks in the capital and the other half staying in the fortress). The chapters combat doctorine is to send a small scouting party ahead to gather inteligence on the enemy's forces and lead the attack with a armored spearhead, fallowed by the infantry. The assault marines are also known to jetpack directly into the middle of the enemy force to cripple them from the inside. The most known case of this tactic is the battle for the planet's capital, when the assault marines killed the warboss leading the attack, when the orks saw the death of the warboss, many ran, only to be killed by the assault marines. The chapter's beliefs are to serve the god-emperor and kill all xenos and heretics they come across. Altrough they care for their homeworld and it's people, and will always defend it over anything. Their relationship with the people is good, as all the things the chapter loots from the enemy and is not useful for them, they give to the people. The battlecries of the chapter are varied, usually ''For the Emperor!'', ''Death/Kill (to) the heretics/xenos!'', but the chapter master has been known known to use ''Tally ho!'', but he has only used it once, and even then he fallowed it my the usual ''For the Emperor!'' and ''Death/Kill (to) the heretics/xenos!''. It's very incomplete and unorganized and will be rewamped at a later date. 13skullz
Well, unless he was12 when he was in the IG, he would have to be a giant of a man, like, bigger than an astartes, I know, Heresy! <_< Then have a second heart, third lung, Haemastamen, and a Black Carapace put in, and finally thrown into a suit of power armor. -Skullz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/154926-iron-wolves-diy-wip/#findComment-1808742 Share on other sites
Author
Wait, I think I can explain this... Of course! Maybe the local IG was running out of recruits so they took children to their units! And war could last about 10-13 years. So, there's your explanation. Blood&Chocolate
Sounds good so far, I'm new to all this myself so my opinion might not be worth listening to! However, I like the name and the colour scheme - they complement each other. Post more when you can! Author
Oh. Well, back on topic, I've browsed the GW online shop and I have to choose between a predator tank and a tactical squad. The tank I could paint now, but I can't paint the marines until the 24th. Which one I'll choose? Can you guys help me? 13skullz
Hm... Well, My first Choice would be the Marines... but... Then, I would feel bad about... Never mind. Go with the marines, save the tank for later. Tanks often get worn down to bare metal anyway so... AND REMEMBER! Spray prime white first, and work in thin layers! BE PATIENT! -Skullz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/154926-iron-wolves-diy-wip/#findComment-1808928 Share on other sites
Author
Hello! I've not updated this for 3 days since I was in Finland, where my closest GW is. We have a local retailer here in Estonia, but they have no new products and have almost no SM stuff at all(they have a good paint selection though). During my trip to Finland I bought the fallowing things: AoBR - My christmas present for myself, won't get it until the 24th Paints: Adeptus Battlegrey, Skull White spray, Blood Red, Boltgun Metal etc. - Also wont get until 24th Paint Brush Set - Another thing I won't get until the 24th Citadel Plastic Cutters - Same as above Citadel Hobby Knife - Got it now How to paint Space Marines - Got it White Dwarf issue... uh... um... - The issue with the free ork boy and termie, got the termie for colour scheme testing You'll have probably noticed that I didn't buy any PVA Glue or static grass etc, that is since I plan to leave my bases empty. The next update will be on the 24th, or today since I'm rewriting my fluff. Brother_Beork
ehm... didn't the primarchs all die or disapear before the twenthy-sixt founding? And aren't the data on foundings stored on Mars and Terra? Or did GW retcon that in between editions? (I still have to get me a 5th edition copy) Beork Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/154926-iron-wolves-diy-wip/#findComment-1813439 Share on other sites
Author
Gah, I didn't know anything about it. I'm going to revise my fluff then. I think I'm going to put them in the 25th founding then. About the forgetting their past thing... I might just as well put them in a older founding and claim that they don't know much about their history. Like the Blood Ravens. Author
Me again! I've got the AoBR set, and I am going to start painting all the SM miniatures. The first one that I'm going to paint is the dreadnought. I'll undercoat and paint it tomorrow. http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/3902/dreadnoughtpicgluedunprhb5.jpg http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/dreadnoughtpicgluedunprhb5.jpg/1/w800.png Brother Author Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/154926-iron-wolves-diy-wip/#findComment-1819242 Share on other sites
