Iron Warriors fluff questions

Hey, here are some fluff questions about Iron Warriors. Sorry if some of them seem stupid, but I'm new to 40K as well as Chaos, so this is a bit necessary...

Would Iron Warriors use Plague Marines? I ask because for the holiday season, I know I am getting a box of them, and want to make an Iron Warriors amy. The dilemma is, Iron Warriors do not really have a patron god. I know that some of them fall into the Path of Khorne, but what about hired Plague Marines, or even Plague Marines stemmed from their own warriors?

Oh, and another Iron Warriors fluff question. Would it be plausible for them to hire Alpha Legionarres to do inteligence for them before a sige? Or would they not trust them to do it and not lie?

And finally-

Do Iron Warriors make excessive use of transports? I know that they really like battle-tanks (Vindicators and Defilers spring to mind), but can't figure out whether or not they would use transports to get around. It would make sense, as they must move huge amounts of munitions and men to siege areas, but storming breaches with them and using the along trench lines isn't the greatest idea...

All three questions depend on just how fluff stringent you want to be. Do Iron Warrior's typicaly gain the blessings of Nurgle? no. Are there Warsmiths playing around with malignent warp viruses that will make their warriors tougher? Yep. Do most warsmiths trust other chaos legions? Hell no. Do some? Definately. Are Rhinos a mainstay of every marine force past and present? Undoubtabley. Do marines sometimes go to war without them? Of course.

It's all about your own preference and playstyle. For instance here are my "Iron Sons". Soul powered automatons crafted by my grand company's technomancer:

Wow, that's really cool! I love the way you did that.

I think that I'm gonna stick to making an Iron Warriors army (with Alpha Legion allies for intelligence), but limit my god-specific forces to my Plague Marines and my Berzerkers.

Thanks!

I'm actually including noise marines, thousand sons, and plague marines in my IW lists... the way I justify the thousand sons and plague marines is I model them as a generic automaton that are "counts as" with a smith as the champion and try to stay away from any psychic power that isn't warptime. the noise marines are just regular IW that use the sonic weapons

Well, the issue is that suspicion is a specific Iron Warrior trait. So no, I really don't think they would trust the Alpha Legion, who are probably the shiftiest and least trustworthy of the legions that the Iron Warriors trust none of. I mean how would the warsmith know that the intel they are giving him is legitimate? He wouldn't, and his paranoia would drive him to use his own agents. Again, paranoia is a genetic trait of IW.

As for plague marines, again, probably not although I suppose you could justify them as "incomplete obliterators" or something, but Nurgle blessed marines per se are probably a no-no. Berzerkers on the other hand can work quite well as "siege breakers" as IW are said to be as savage as World Eaters when storming a breach. Hope that helps.

- The Icons of Tzeentch or Nurgle could represent the Iron Warrior's tenacity, hardiness and iron-resolve in combat. Alternatively, you could model Iron Warriors whose armour has fused to their flesh or even those who are infected with a mutation of the same techno-virus that created the Obliterators to warrant the in-game effects of these marks.

- Plague Marines could be nascent Obliterators, not yet quite at the stage where they can mould weapons from their bodies, but so festooned with techno-organic bits and pieces they are incredibly hard to actually kill. The same could also be applied to Thousand Sons or Noise Marines, both of whom may be represented by Iron Warriors whose bodies have essentially become mounts for experimental long range weaponry, or have been infected with a particular strain of the techno-virus that causes their bodies to erupt with flame and plasma spewing orifices etc.

- Khorne Berserkers could be specially adpated or doctored Iron Warriors specifically equipped for close-quarters sieges. They could even be techno-organic murder machines whose limbs have been replaced by a variety of whirring blades, saws, scythes, etc.
