BFG9000

don't know who said it, and whoever you are post here and get credit for giving me inspiration to build one! you should be careful what you say around players that have ork armys (its blasty, shooty and dead killy!). anyway basic idea is to make a marine able to carry said piece and also quite importantly, the gun itself. now i plan on using for chapter master pie plate attack (as the person said, he wondered when someone would do so to show it!) or a plasma cannon. however the former sounds more fun and more reasonable to being a BFG (it ain't no weak str 7 ap 2 gun!) and a note to all peolpe, call it call you will, we all know what the three letters really stand for!

i'll post pics if i ever manage to get a lend of a digital camera or whatever, but so far an ork lootas deff gun has already been found (he stole from tau, now i steal from him!) and used in the construction. now due to problems with the lack of any real pictures of the oringal BFG i'm gonna do the one from the movie since it has shots from all the angles. heres what the gun looks like

challenge is in the fact i've gotta keep it big, but not so i can't make a marine hold it and a decent look for him too!

Although you have a lack of pictures, i'm sure you're familiar with it? The top is like a long V shape and i'm sure there is a Tau gun that is like that (ion cannon???) which could be a good reference, if a bit big for conversion. Watch the film on your computer and when The Rock starts wielding this beast print screen it and save the images for reference.

The conversion beamer suggestions are good, but this weapon doesn't realy fire a beam of energy that gets stronger with distance. You pull the trigger and everything dies! ;) Counts-as orbital bombardment seems perfect to me!

+EDIT+

quick google image search turned up this:

looking at the top section, i'm now thinking V8 plasma cannon...

Wrong <_<

Notice in the movie where it hits the blue stuff keeps on eating crap, that screams conversion beamer, not traditional but definately conv-beamer.

The other options i'd go would be "counts-as Multi-Melta or counts-as Plasma Cannon."

right alot of yous don't understand what BFG stands for but it stands for BIG <_< GUN and a conversion beamer on average has piss-wig power and to me orbital bombardment seems better due to the fact that the thing has no real show of arc and with limited ammo (as the movie shows no way of reloading as we see him fire only like 2 shots along with a guess from side bits so i think 5 or so shots max) i think a chapter with this would go spareingly with it. now i do know the ion cannon has a good shape but two reasons against it: its not portable if i converted that, and two i don't collect tau. so i have instead looted my bitz box and found an ork loota who happened to have a fusion blaster on his deffgun. some retangle bases with there angled egdes along with some tank exhaust side bits with a sniper rifle end salvaged for the trigger, i look at it it still needs some work but won't look exact but close enough. i still have to consider how to, in fluff wise, explain the reason for it. i was thinking along the lines of a chapter master body guard guy who uses that gun to kill anything that threatens the masters life. and btw when i get a lend of my dads camera (he has one luckily that isn't old fashion) i can show yous it and yous shall need to know the following: i do not use plasticard, green stuff or any other fancy things like that. i use plastic glue, paper, blu-tac and the other tools i have (a side cutter thats a little cumbersome and a swish army knife, mainly for more precise cuts and a file). so whenevers yous see any of my models remember that, its not easy but thats how i do it. so next time you think your cash stripped, remember me -sniff- (btw anymore conversion beamer suggestions will be ignored, it just isn't good enough)

but better! (i would actually like to see someone find a gun better than the BFG or more iconic anyway, just for giggles). anyway i have managed to look at the gun and i have managed to get the thing assembled properly, its not painted and just needs a little bit of extra detail for it and it shall be done. now to find a marine worthy of carrying this gun!
