Opinion on Blood Claws

The rhinos hold up very well to fire with the cover save provided by the smoke launchers.Even if your enemy does manage to destroy your rhino, he won't get to put much fire (if any) into your squad. They'll likely disembark and remain untouched.

and your opponent will shot with blast weapons at the rhino and 50% of the time it will hit the grey hunters too. with oblits thats 6/9 templates with half hiting the GH and when they are bunched up , so more get hit . you dont even need lash to do that .

If your opponent ignores your rhinos (they usually do), you can drive around tank shocking and ramming other vehicles

with melta or fists hiting them when they do that ? or ork power claws ? they will do a tank shot one time . its better to use rhinos as LoS blockers . they work longer that way .

I have played tons of tourney and friendly games and Blood Claws in a Rhino is a waste. Period. They get out shoot for poo and then die. These are assault troops plain and simple. Assault. So put them in a LRCrusader so they can get out and beat something first turn. Make sure they can do their jobs.

LRCrusaders are almost un-killable in most games. With Smoke and the ability to still move and drop troops if stunned they are the best choice.

As to weapons. It has 2 Assault cannons and the Hurricanes for troops. Or the Assault Cannons and the Melta for tanks. So it will kill something important usually.

If you are Rhino or podding take Grey Hunter packs. They pack more fire power and that is important since you can not charge out of Rhinos or Pods.

I don't think that is correct. I'm certain that you cannot target the troops with the same squad that targets the transport. Therefore, if they are concentrating the fire from several squads on this one rhino with your blood claws in it, you're probably making out pretty well. After all, that means that your other transports or dreads or bikes, etc. are NOT being shot. There are only so many guns on the table, after all.

After the squad disembarks, the rhino is expendable (as long as it's not worth a victory point), so any fire it draws by tank shocking, etc is fire that will not be aimed at more important stuff.

Just my experience, hope it helps.

There really is no set way to use or even misuse a Rhino, heck I have even Rammed with one because it was my last ditch effort to pop another Rhino so I could assult the troops inside. just keep all your options in mind, be flexable and play smart.

Tank shock with it to push the enemy 3" away from an objective at the end of turn 5 or 6.

Add the PMSB and it's a pretty effective fire support base, 4 24" shots has a 50/50 chance to get even a marine to fail a save.

LOS sight blocker for troops

Taxi service for a squad that lost their transport.

Provide cover for another more important vehicals

Decoy to get assulty troops running in a different direction

I just would never ever put a bloodclaw squad in a rhino. Itd be way to trying for me to keep reminding my opponent wich ones were for bloodclaws and wich ones for grey hunters. My BCs are house trained thank you very much, and so I put them in landraiders and save the rhinos for my Grey Hunters.
