maniclurker
If an independent character is positioned in such a way as to not be able to be the first model moved in a counter-charge, does it get to move at all? Example: I deepstrike some LotD with a termie-librarian, and have the LotD squad completely surround the libby. My opponent assaults them with X unit. Now, according to the rulebook, the libby has to react first. However, he cannot move, as he is surrounded. Do I: a ) Move all of the LotD that aren't engaged into the enemy, and leave the libby where he is... or b ) Move all of the LotD, then move the libby? Discuss... Trekari
In the spirit of the rules, I would ask that you move the termies first that prohibit the libby from moving. As soon as you had a gap for him to go through, I would request that you move him through it. Democratus
Seems the RAW answer is that the Libby would move and be stuck. Then all the other models would move, leaving the Libby behind. SeattleDV8
Thats not the intent of the rule Dem. BRB pg.49 "...must move before other friendly models in order to get into base contact with an enemy if at all possible....." Yes you should move the IC first but the intent for the rule is clear...To get the IC into combat. maniclurker
I would just say that his bodyguard were trying to keep him from harm. Reguardless, I've found this to be a very good way to make sure that your librarian always survives to teleport the squad out of combat.
