Master Chaplain Astador
They're looking good so far! I actually placed an order for the parts for one of my entries, but I won't receive it for another couple of weeks! GAR
Howdy. I am glad you guys are liking them. My vision for them was to look old and world-worn. Kind of like old witch hunters. According to fluff these guys were the precursors for the grey knights, so I wanted something that was a cross between a marine and a grey knight. The shafts of the spear/naginata/big combat blade is made from space marine standards. In almost every case it had to be cut down to size so it would work as a weapon handle and not be so long. The blades are made from dark angel swords. I like the ornamental look of them. The models are from the Mk 2 veterans, althought they are quite chopped up. The sgt head is from a templar Sword Bretheren ( by the way kids, it is not easy to remove and a few sacrifices to Khorne were made along the way) and his hand is from an old vet sgt. Some of the other heads are a mix of filed down space wolf heads and normal marine heads. I like the idea of going helmetless because it allows me to make them look older, note the longer hair, moustaches and balding spots. I do not intend for these guys to look young and vigorous, I have more like old and bitter in mind. For the space shark I was going to go with pose 3, but I got a wild idea and went with a modified pose 5. The left hand is aiming forward with a pistol, the torso is slightly twisted to the left anf the right hand is down to the right and bent outward, almost as if ready for a side to side swipe. It needs some GS work, but I am liking the pose. It keeps things open and still retains a certain flow and dynamicism to it. Anyhoo, pics later today as I get a chance to take them.
