lmyrick
Really really nice. Cool conversion and the paint job is really clean with vibrant whites and reds. Would love to see this guy on the table. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1811067 Share on other sites

Dude, don't take it the wrong way, he's awesome... I just dont understand B) The Sons of Orar are an Ultramarines Successor, they just reworked the Ultramarine symbol for theirs, e.g. upside down in a different colour. EDIT: Great model by the way! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1811408 Share on other sites
Apocalyp$e
That is one really killer model xD Here comes a stupid question though... If he's Ultramarines, why is he red? Dude, don't take it the wrong way, he's awesome... I just dont understand :D Orar was a captain in the Ultra Marines preheresy... He was soo super-fantastic, that when Roboute dissolved the legion into a chapter plus a bunch of successors, Orar got to take one as his own... hence the sons or Orar. Beautiful model. I love the combination of Terminator legs and oldschool-mark power armour. Corpse King
Brilliant work there mate. Glad to see this here. Love that shade of red, looks better with all the detailing on it. Now, just gotta get your actual scale traitor marine done to get a good match up between the two. :D Good work once again bro. blood_raven_240
Oh, okay! That's cool! Sorry if I messed up :D Anyway, once again, really cool model! So... the Sons of Orar are an entire legion of Ultramarines, but in red? Cool =] Would it be fluff-friendly if I used say... a Tactical Squad from the Sons of Orar... in my standard Ultramrines? Apocalyp$e
So... the Sons of Orar are an entire legion of Ultramarines, but in red? Cool =] Well, not a legion... a chapter. All the loyalist legions were disbanded and broken into chapters following the heresy. Legions were the nigh-unstoppable amalgamation of thousands upon thousands of spacemarines combined with the imperial guard & navy. I think the Ultramarines numbered 250,000 space marines at it's peak as a legion. While modern day chapters consist of around 1000 battle-ready marines Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1812890 Share on other sites

battle captain corpus
The plate armour look you have gone for, as opposed to just the "normal" versions works so well with this Pig of Sparta. The curaiss and abdomen plate really suits the helms design, echoing it nicely. Very good work, you should be proud to have it in your collection. ;) BCC :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1813564 Share on other sites
Capt. Kenaz
Wow! Looks great and a really clean paint jo to boot!! I would add something to the chest area of the armour next time, like a raised detail, just to give it a bit more depth; a termie honor from the terminator plastic sprue would be great, or even a banner top clipped from a banner pole or one of those things you'd gluse on top opf a back pack.... It's just a lot of flat area on the armour of his chest. Overall though, awesome!!!!! I am going to be making some space wolves this way, and you have really provided the inspiration and final vision for me. Thanks! A whole squad would be sick! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1814463 Share on other sites
Pig Of Sparta
Thanks for all the comments guys. The armour plating style was actually done so I didin't have to do power cabling on the torso, and I'm really glad that my sculpting shortcomings actually enhanced this mini. With a view to chest detailing, usually I prefer either chest eagles or power cabling, but with this I wanted something different, and because of the time I placed the representation (heresy/scouring), I didn't think that a sculpted chest eagle would fit fluffwise, hence the flat 'stencilled' looking one. The cap painted it on to show his loyalty to the emperor, and avoid friendly fire incidents, its a 31st millenium Friend or Foe marker :) @ battle captain corpus: thanks, I am quite proud of him, he's got pride of place on my display shelf just now :) @ blood_raven_240: I think it'd be quite characterful if you had some Sons of Orar fighting alongside your Ultramarines, they are 'brothers' after all, and remember there's a whole chunk in the 'new' marine dex about spacemarines being a 'brotherhood at war'. @ Capt. Kenaz: I'd love to see some space wolves in this scale, let us know when you're doing them... and without trying too big headed or anything like that, I'm glad this project and mini have inspired others to make models of this scale. It's a welcome break from regular mini's and the look so awesome when you stand them next to guardsmen or 'nids, they tower over their adversaries! Just the way it should be :) @ Corpse King: The traitor is coming.... they say don't rush genius, well us regular guys don't like bein rushed either ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1816526 Share on other sites
Dark Sensei
The banner's laurels (too dark and lacks of contrast) and your gold (a bit too tarnished, looks unfinished) deserve some more efforts IMHO but the main guy's look and bitz choice roxxs (alongside the whole of your work) btw. You'll have a very very nice army to the end. Congrats ! Gamers World
How big is ''real'' scale shurely you don't mean he is 8' tall. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1817697 Share on other sites
Pig Of Sparta
Around 7ft in height, closer to the fluff descriptions of Astartes. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1817760 Share on other sites

Pig Of Sparta
Damn, someone noticed. Ummm.... no, the wall was originally going to be smoothed with GS, but I couldn't be bothered doing it, so they're just really small bricks :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1817962 Share on other sites
Gamers World
Just let me get this straight, the MODEL IS 7FT TALL, he couldn't even be used in apoc as he is taller than the players. Pig Of Sparta
;) I just read back through the last few posts and understand what's going on properly now... the mini is scaled to be a foot taller (give or take) than a normal human in heroic 28mm (standard GW scale) so he's about 35-40mm tall. Sorry guys. A life size marine would be really cool, but I don't have the time, skill, space or patience to try something like that:) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1818056 Share on other sites
Gamers World
Ah, right, the mini is still ace but I was just wondreing. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1818116 Share on other sites
feuer_faust
So this looks pretty cool, a good balance of "I'm a huge marine" and "My body might actually work!" Now where's a terminator like this? :) Although, one a second look, his waist is a tad on the skinny side. =/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155141-actual-scale-captain-orar/#findComment-1818279 Share on other sites
Pig Of Sparta
Yeah, the cap's been on campaign for a while and hasn't had a chance to enjoy any proper food :) Seriously though, his waist could have done with some bulking up, but because I left the hip plates on, that was easier said than done.
