Shortsonfire79
The placement of the sprue is..odd. It would be better if it were in clumps, or at least, have more stuff around it, instead of just laying on the ground, it would probably pile up in places too. good start Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155354-ye-olde-piece-o-terrain/#findComment-1814262 Share on other sites
Brother SRM
God... all that stuff from the 3rd ed starter set in one convenient terrain piece! It looks alright, but I second the notion of putting the sprue rubble into dumps. Right now it just looks a little strange, and models would have a hard time standing up around it. kalle
fixed that , tho im out of glue , so when i get some glue ill start piling pieces of spur instead of the random spread . thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155354-ye-olde-piece-o-terrain/#findComment-1815134 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
Heres the piece I did a while ago. A Crashed Land Raider Crusader. Note the large piles of sprue. I used some wall filler to make large mounds, then pressed LOADS of clipped up sprue (6 full sprues of it) and once it all dried, glued loads of it on afterward. Edit: And there'd probably be some more dirt/sand on the ground on the inside too. When stuff gets blown up on the outside, it gents blown into the building. Maybe a crater here or there might help too. Heres a place where I got my craters from. Its REALLY simple, I've done 2 batches of 3 already. Captain Donahaigh
there's also this thread, lots of pics and inspiration. i dig the sprue used as rebar, and i think once you've got based, most of the issue with the loose rubble will self correct. kalle
a crater would be an awesome idea . Tho the craters in these links seem far to big to fit in my piece but will do my best to make som holes :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155354-ye-olde-piece-o-terrain/#findComment-1817034 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
Well, with my craters, they can be any size, depending on how tight you roll the paper towel rolls. And Donahalgh's can be made smaller with smaller lumps of foil. Simple! Just do one or two. It'd look great.
