Terminatorinhell
hiya guys, this time instead of a complete picture, I though I'd place a nearly done pic here :) I need a little bit of advice and pointers as I have tried a few new techniques (the two toned cape the thing with the powersword one side darker than the other and sculpting the Mk2 crusade helmet. I wouldn't mind the mavericks Starks333 or Lunchbox looking and giving input either even if it is a bit harsh, I'll take it to heart :D http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x127/TerminatorOfHellsing/DSC00825.jpg http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x127/TerminatorOfHellsing/DSC00826.jpg http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x127/TerminatorOfHellsing/DSC00827.jpg http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x127/TerminatorOfHellsing/DSC00828.jpg Cheers (oh he needs a name) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155357-motc-with-sword-pip/ Share on other sites
Brother Ziggy
I must say you've done a better job watering down the paint, it looks a lot thinner and I really love the MKII helmet. You are a very competent converter and with a bit more practice with paints your models will look fantastic, remember, take your time ;P Well done! Terminatorinhell
thank you :D the sword technique is called two toning? I don't recall where I got it from, it just sprung to my head :/ EDIT: aslo I am painting a Mentor Dev squad and I was wondering, If I make the white areas with a codex grey and badab black wash then use white and leave some recesses will it work out? If anyone has a painting white guide please tell me. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155357-motc-with-sword-pip/#findComment-1814280 Share on other sites
Brother SRM
Big improvement over much of your work. I've seen a bit of it around, and the paint on this is much smoother. My criticism is with the helmet - I can't quite tell what's going on with it. It's more likely the picture than the conversion I'm having trouble seeing - mind providing some closeups of the head? the thousandth whisper
hi everyone the thosuadndth whisper here, new to the forums. Well, your guy looks fairly awesome, but the only thing I don't like about him is the white looks a bit dodgy, I'll give you a recipe, 1. paint with an even mix of space wolves grey and white. 2. water down shadow grey and wash in to crevices 3. highlight with pure skull white Also for a name I suggest Damatheon the Firecloud if he has plasma I like the conversion he looks like he's gonna  someone up bad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155357-motc-with-sword-pip/#findComment-1814509 Share on other sites
Master Chaplain Astador
It's an improvement as everyone else has said. <_< Keep up the practice. I will say though, you need to be sure to get an even coverage before highlighting and shading. Pig Of Sparta
thank you :) the sword technique is called two toning? I don't recall where I got it from, it just sprung to my head :/EDIT: aslo I am painting a Mentor Dev squad and I was wondering, If I make the white areas with a codex grey and badab black wash then use white and leave some recesses will it work out? If anyone has a painting white guide please tell me. Super white: Start with Space Wolf Grey, then use watered down Shadow Grey to shade (but don't wash it) and then three or four thinned coats of Skull White to highlight up to pure white on the raised areas. James EDIT: doh! someone already posted it..... that'll teach me to read a the thread all the way through :) I second the thousandth whisper, this is how I do my whites Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155357-motc-with-sword-pip/#findComment-1816629 Share on other sites
