Mattsama
So, conviently enough, my local gaming group will be starting a slow grow or escalation league at the turn of the year. Sadly, they will be starting at 500 points and increasing by 250 point incraments after you "level up." The idea of the leauge is to put new players through different qualifiers (using different rules, playing different games, against different foes, etc.) before they dive into a 2500 point massive blowout with so many rules they have not idea. The sad part is that at 500 points, with wanting to play a purist Grey Knight Army (whom shall be known as the Ossuary Knights with a similar paint scheme to my Blood Angels of half Blood Red and half Bleached Bone), I will be at a rediculous disadvantage against virtually every opponent until at least the 750 bracket when I can take 1 Land Raider. Normal force organization ruels apply so.... For now, my Army list looks like this: Brother-Captain Psycannon ---------- 091 Total Justicar Power Armor Grey Knight (x5) Psycannon (x2) ----------- 205 Total Justicar Power Armor Grey Knight (x5) Psycannon (x2) ----------- 205 Total 501 Grand Total Thoughts? I know this force is going to lose a lot at first. Mainly because I'll be forced to march on my objectives, but thankfully its been determined that below 1K points, the field will always be 4'x4' so hopefully the shrouding works out well. DevianID
Thats a lot of psycannons! But ya, at 500 points I dont think its a problem, as you get your 1 hq and 2 troops, and have points to spend on upgrades. I also show you at 491, not 501. But, if you wanted to take a slightly different approach you could drop all the psycannons and get a dreadnaught! That way you keep the mobile dakka and CC ability of the knights, but add a dread who should prove useful. Or, drop all the psycannons and get 4 more knights and some flamers, or upgrade to a grand master!! Knights are quite capable after all, and at 500 points you might be able to leverage their well rounded abilities better as opponents struggle with some armies to meet their 2 troop 1 hq requirement. Onisuzume
Just one note: don't post individual point costs. I would also suggest getting more models onto the table because 11 models total is awefully low. iamnothere
Mattsama I think your list's wrong. I read it as 2 Squads of Justicar + 5 GK and 2 psycannons. That comes to 225 a squad or 450 pts total. If it were me I'd create a fire base of Justicar +4GK and 2 psycannons for 200pts and sit this on an objective. Add in a Brother captain with psycannon. Then include a second squad of 6 GK with an incinerator for 185. Spend the rest on frags, targeters and melta bombs. This will give you 1 static firebase, 1 mobile firebase and effectivly a squad to contest objectives with. Mattsama
Hrmmm... three people (myself included) have my squads at three different point costs. Doh! I found what I did wrong. Psycannons are 25 not 15. My bad. That does indeed bump me up into the "red zone" @DevianID: I did think about the Dread route, but I was really detered by the 115 (Assault Cannon and Extra Armor) "minimum." For a more mobile version I was thinking about something along the lines of: Bro-Cap w/ Psycannon PAGK squad (justicar+4PAGKs) w/ 2 Psycannon (this squad will combine with the Bro-Cap and sit back and provide fire support) PAGK squad (justicar+6PAGKs) w/ 1 Incinerator (meant for "rushing" objectives) Still only 13 models... but hey, we're GKs! Auedawen
I like hte second list a lot more Mattsama. More models, plus that Incinerator is going to come in extremely handy. Right now you should be at 491 points, so add in some Frag grenades into the list and maybe Targeters or Melta-bombs to the Incinerator squad Justicar (I wouldn't be surprised if you saw a Dreadnought at this points level). iamnothere
BC with psycannon =91 Justicar +4 Gk +2 Psycannons +targeter=201 Justicar +5 GK +incinerator +frags=186 I get 478, which leaves you points for a few fancy bits such as meltabombs.
