jay79
The details are becoming more crisp... I like it. Definitely wash or dip them though. You need some grit to off-set all of that stark contrasting yellow. Keep going and be vigilant. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155399-imperial-fists-wip/page/2/#findComment-1848901 Share on other sites
CaptainForge
Thanks for the encouragement Jay79. I was a bit more pleased with the final four than the rest. I took more time and worked on one at a time. I believe I did a better job on the white helmet, although I forgot to put the black on his grill. I used the three bare heads on the others to give them some flare and also to practice on faces. I still need to touch them up some. Photographs really show up all your flaws. I could have sworn I carefully painted the bases so as not to see the white primer. Oh well. And boltgun metal really reflects the light back making those parts look globby or whited out. Weapons: I keep getting that white looking silver, more so in photos, but not in real life, the weapons are painted solid but in photos they look...well...dreadful. I even washed the metal parts with badab black and they still look awful in photos!? I've started work on the Rhino. A friend wanted me to camo it and I did a test piece with yellow/gretchen green, but once I got the thing put together I'm thinking more that I will add battle damage and mud weathering. I have a problem with GW tank models and skimmers, the parts never seem to fit like they are suppose to, always seem to be warped. Finally I have begun painting my as Lysander conversion. Still tinkering around with green stuff, wish I had had some more experience with GS before starting work on the conversion. All helpful tips are appreciated. Thanks for looking, reading, commenting. CaptainForge
My busted Rhino painted following the method in How to paint Space Marines for battle damage, mud and rusted exhausts. Finally finished this project. Thanks for the patience and reading this thread. I've learned a lot about painting since beginning it.
