Vash113
Alright well I finally finished all my Ultramarines (Including most of the updates for 5th) and I figured I'd finally post some pics of the whole thing, so here they are: The whole thing: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0574-1.jpg Vets and stuff: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0576.jpg Command Squads and stuff: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0577.jpg Masters of the Chapter and stuff: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0578.jpg Marneus Calgar and Honor Guard: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0579.jpg Captain Caito Galenius: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0580.jpg Jump Chaplain and 5th Company Banner: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0581.jpg Marneus Calgar: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0582.jpg Techmarine and Predator: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0583.jpg Two Dreadnaughts and Land Raider: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0584.jpg Closer Shots of the Army from right to left: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0585.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0586.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0587.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m307/Vash113/HPIM0588.jpg Now what your looking at is: Command -Marneus Calgar & Honor Guard -Chief Librarian Tigurius -Power Armored Calgar Ultramarines 1st Company -11 Terminators -8 Tyrannic War Veterans -5 Veterans from MK II Box (still need reorganized) -Land Raider Ultramarines 5th Company -Captain Caito Galenus -Old Captain Vash Thalion model -Librarian -Jump Chaplain -Command Squad -60 Tactical Marines -20 Devastator Marines -11 Assault Marines -2 Predator Annihilators -1 Rhino -1 Whirlwind -2 Dreadnaughts Now there are some new models for the army that aren't completed yet and those are: -Captain Sicarius -Sergeant Tellion -5 Bolter Scouts I also am planning to add the following to the army: -Land Raider Crusader with Forgeworld extra armor and Ultramarines doors to act as Agemman's personal transport. -Forge World Commander Culn to be converted to a Captain Agemman with Relic Blade & Storm Shield -5 Terminators with Forge World Shoulder Pads to serve as Agemman's Command Squad. -5 Sniper Scouts -5 CC Scouts -1 Land Speeder Storm Which will round out the 10th Company support of the army and add a centerpiece squad in the form of Captain Agemman and squad with personal transport and lots of conversions. I also have to remove the bolter Veteran from the Vet squad and replace him with another Vet hopefully from a blister or something to form a Vanguard squad without Jump Packs. The bolter Vet will then be added to a Sternguard squad for my WIP Imperial Fists that are still a ways off. Now that the Ultras are almost done I still have 60 Space Wolves to paint and 20 Raven Guard before I can move on to stripping my old Blood Ravens and repainting them as Imperial Fists. Anyway just wanted to share the results of my last 2 and a half years of collecting and painting. the thousandth whisper
first off, the pics are really dodgy :tu: it's quite a large awesome army though, I think it would look awesome in real life. Also i see you went for the lighter coloured ultras. personally i favour the 'eavy metal dark ones, but yeah. OLD SCHOOL RHINO AND WHIRLWIND! WOOH    Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155438-ultramarines-5th-company-support/#findComment-1815251 Share on other sites
The_Chaplain
that army looks a lot more impressive in person, that being said; better pics would help this thread a lot. Vash113
Very Kool! It's always nice to see a whole Company of Marines! It took a LONG time to get them all painted, I have no patience for painting, its only seeing the finished product that motivates me to actually do any painting. Also i see you went for the lighter coloured ultras. personally i favour the 'eavy metal dark ones, but yeah. OLD SCHOOL RHINO AND WHIRLWIND! WOOH :tu:   Well Ultramarines Blue with lighter highlights is all it is, the flash brightens the colors a little, and yea the Old School Wirlwind and Rhino are a lot of fun. I have an old Tigurius as well as the new one but I haven't gotten around to stripping and repainting it yet. that army looks a lot more impressive in person, that being said; better pics would help this thread a lot. Yea well better pics would require a better camera that ya know... actually has a macro feature. Inquisitor Engel
I hate to point this out, but they're the 2nd Company. 5th Company Ultramarines should have black trims. Fantastic though - It's great to see a whole company like that. Did you buy the Company box and then go from there or buy it bit by bit? Vash113
I hate to point this out, but they're the 2nd Company. 5th Company Ultramarines should have black trims. :) No they're 5th Company, personally I think Black Trims look wonky, I designate the 5th Company by the company heraldry painted on the knees or will once I get around to doing it to all the models. Besides Insignium Astartes allows for modifications to markings from time to time. The fluff for the army is that during the Medusa V Campaign all Ultramarines forces painted their trims gold to make it harder for opponents to distinguish which Company was where and made it seem like Sicarius' 2nd Company was everywhere. The 5th Company hasn't changed back to black trims yet ;). Also notice the Vets have their proper shoulder trims. It's also helpfull if I want to run Sicarius as I did buy the model (though I had to swap out that stupid scabbard for an actual drawn blade), and origionally the army was the 7th Company but as I learned more about Marine fluff I switched it to a battle company as that fit the organisation of the army better. Fantastic though - It's great to see a whole company like that. Did you buy the Company box and then go from there or buy it bit by bit? Actually it's just been built up bit by bit, I started 2 1/2 years ago with 3 Tac Squads, an Assault Squad, Captain and Jump Chaplain as a small portable army that I could take to college instead of my 2500pt Mechanised Tau army which is quite... irritating to transport. It just grew from there, especially with second hand models purchased in bulk as fixer upper projects. Half the Termies came from Black Reach, one of the Tac Squads is from the Macragge box, some old 3rd Edition Vehicles, and new stuff like the Masters of the Chapter and Veterans MK II and so forth. The army has now gone through 3 Captain models and 2 Characters, Vash Thalion was the name for my first Captain and after his early performances including a crazy last stand I revamped the model that was basically a stock form of the Commander Box with parts from a Command Squad box to give him a knightly look. Recently I mocked up the model for Captain Galenius with more of a roman look and he's now the current model in use. I think fluff wise I'm going to thumb Captain Thalion off to the Deathwatch or something. Ferrus Manus
Nice work Vash it's always nice to see a complete army, something that I've never had the patience to do ;). I especially like your Captain Galenus. How did you make the crest on his helmet? Vash113
Nice work Vash it's always nice to see a complete army, something that I've never had the patience to do :P. I especially like your Captain Galenus. How did you make the crest on his helmet? I barely have the patience for it most of the time, but perseverence wins out in the end ;). As for Galenus, it's actually really similar to the method from the crested helms tutorial in the Librarium, just not as big. A small raised crest squared off ontop of the helmet. When that dried I then added another layer of GS and then used a wet knife to cut ridges into the second bit of GS to make it look like a horse hair plume and when that dried I added a little tail down the back but I dunno if the angle of the pic lets you see that. Came out a lot better than I was anticipating and is actually simpler than the tutorial version. Very nice work you can be proud on it really. Thanks, it is really satisfying to see it all finished and on the table. :) Good work brother ;) Thanks. ;) tell ya what, next time i come over, ill try and have either the mrs. or her camera in tow. Haha, fair enough, though I didn't think she ever parted with the camera. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155438-ultramarines-5th-company-support/#findComment-1815823 Share on other sites

I've played with the whole thing in Apocalypse a couple times but not fully painted and the army has been in construction for about two and a half years, but that's also with working on half a dozen other armies. Vash113
Good looking army buddy. Its huge. NEED MOAR TANKS! =p Yea, I'm workin on that, sadly I got the heavies mostly full and Land Speeders aren't nearly as usefull as they used to be which leaves rhinos and razorbacks which I'm not a big fan of so I'm not sure what I want to get, I'll be adding another Land Raider with Forge World parts as a centerpiece but other than that I'm still trying to figure out what vehicles to add and where to add them. Vash113
Perhaps, I already have 6 Heavy Support choices in the army, one of which is a Whirlwind so I dunno if I'll add anymore heavy support choices to the army. I'll probably throw a Vindicator into the Imperial Fists at the very least though.
