Painting: Weathering on my White Scars

OK as some people have asked for a tutorial on how i did the weathering on my white scars stuff to date here it :cuss

1. basecoat of chaos black undercoat spray

2. fine coat or skull white undercoat spray - finely layered up so that you get a natrual recess dark grey, and more concentrated spray on the larger areas.

3. paint the bits to be dark or silver black again (depending on your preference)

4. thinned (with water) skull white painted on... give it about 2 layers to get a clean and crisp white as opposed to the spray. Then I did the company markings etc.

5. The chipped/worn look is given by boltgun metal applied with a sponge, focusing on areas likely to get the most wear.

6. Thinned (with white spirits) brown oil paint like a wash is painted into the recesses/vents, and around the rivet heads. leaving it to dry for 5 min or so, then using a dry drybrush, the paint is pulled down the model in whichever motion you want the paint to run. The longer you leave the was to dry, the less 'streaky' it will become so may want to test abit first.

7 for the rust and smoke from and around the exhaust, a mix of black or brown paint and weathering powders was used to give the right texture and the desired effect.

Hope this helps....
