CaptainForge
Thanks for the recipe. Where did you get the headdress for the Sgt? Make it with Green Stuff? I've been scouring different stores for conversion bits, but havent seen anything similar. I was thinking of taking an Iron Halo and working gs around it. Great stuff, keep the photos coming. sgtNACHO
The white to me seems to drown out any details. Perhaps a darker highlight to really show off the edges of the armor? CaptainForge
My attempt at copying OMG: Just a test learning piece. Any help, suggestions appreciated. Inspired by OMG's excellent work. Skirax
How did you do the helmat? I am doing a PH WE atm and I would love to know how you did that. OwlandMoonGuy
Where did you get the headdress for the Sgt? I don’t have a link handy but I a local gamer friend found them for me. I guess they are from some undead, Roman legionnaire line. I’ll try to get a link and post it for you. How did you do the helmat? I am doing a PH WE atm and I would love to know how you did that. The helmet for the Sarge is a Berzerker head w/o the bunny ears. If I could have gotten those in mass I would have done the whole army in them. The “crusader” helm is from the Black Templar upgrade sprues. Just a test learning piece. Looking good. If you’d like to use the decals I made up you can feel free. I took the basics from Bell of Lost Souls and then added my own embellishments. Here’s a quick update on the army. I do of course realize that Razorbacks didn’t exist pre-Heresy but the modeling challenge is to come up with something feasible that clearly reflects the rules for the post-heresy equivalent unit. So will see if the purists will accept this as a reasonable “counts-as” approach: “Razorback” http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v699/OwlandMoonGuy/Pre-H%20Research/LW-Razorback-1.jpg Twin-linked Heavy Bolter Turret http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v699/OwlandMoonGuy/Pre-H%20Research/LW-Razorback-2.jpg Also, here’s the first Sternguard. I’m planning on using all the chaos WHFB legs for this unit. Sternguard #1 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v699/OwlandMoonGuy/Pre-H%20Research/LW-Sternguard-1.jpg Comments always welcome. -OMG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155539-pre-heresy-test-model/page/2/#findComment-1875695 Share on other sites
CaptainForge
Thanks for the response. I am not completely satisfied with the test piece. Could not seem to get the right metalic feel to it. You can get bunny heads at the warstore fairly reasonably, 5 heads I believe. Much cheaper than those crusader helms of Dark angels. For the roman head I saw a tutorial here where a guy used a cut down of the eldar heads. You can just get the headdress from the warstore also. The rhino looks good. Keep posting pictures. This a project I wanted to attempt before now and I love the way it's coming out. OwlandMoonGuy
Here's some additional shorts of the "razorback." Arcadian
Okay.. out of curiosity.. is the metal plate base on Torrgadon and the Original post the plate out of the basing kit or a plasticard equivalent.. no judgement.. the modeler in me wants to know for certain and I honestly cannot tell... Otherwise all I have to say is simply "Bravo!!!" those minis look really cool! OwlandMoonGuy
It’s just plasticard diamond plate. Way cheaper when you want to do a whole army in that theme. Pacific81
Very imaginative work with the razorback, and I love some of the dynamic posing with these marines. OwlandMoonGuy
The only physical description of Torgaddon that I found in the books was that he had black hair. Couple that with the fact that for the time being, I’m using Pedro’s rules to represent him on the table. So the fist & the 4-barrelled storm bolter were just to match the gear, WYSIWYG fashion. What would you have done to make him more like Torgaddon? BTW: Here’s a better pic fo the completed model: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v699/OwlandMoonGuy/Pre-H%20Research/00-Torgaddon-1.jpg -OMG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155539-pre-heresy-test-model/page/2/#findComment-1903912 Share on other sites
Captain Engelhardt
I think his body & head look good, I'd just swap weapons for the ordinary Powerweapon + Bolter configuration. But since this is not very efficient game-wise, I think you could as well count him as Pedro Kantor :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155539-pre-heresy-test-model/page/2/#findComment-1903937 Share on other sites
Pacific81
Just .. excellent. Lovely job with the white, a real knight in shining armour. The 'storm bolter' shouldn't work, but somehow does! I don't know what it is about this model which I like so much but.. *goes off to steal idea* :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155539-pre-heresy-test-model/page/2/#findComment-1904572 Share on other sites
OwlandMoonGuy
I’ve made some more progress on the army – with little time to spare.
