I may be starting one

My advice would be to finish 80-90% of your current 40k projects before you go and start another army (unless you like having lots to do), because otherwise you'll end up like me, and get stressed and think that you will not be able to finish them all because theres this huge pile of stuff on your painting table/desk, and end up selling half of it on ebay to get rid of it.

Its all up to you, but like I said, it would probably be better if you get most of your current armies done before you start another. And yes, CSM's are very awesome.

Well im not actually sure where to quit, and im not much of a painter so i was just going to get the models and paint them when i can be bothered. I was going to wrap up my space marine army at the currant 4000ish points with only the addition of some devistators and more tactical marines. But with the new codex, i must have more, must have all B) so there are too many fun things but i will end my marines as soon as i get some of 'em (more tac's, devistators, thunderfire cannon and a few more fun things.) I also have now about 1500 of Tyranids and 2500 of eldar so i dont see them ending any time soon, and as i said im going to start another in FEB (when the new lizardmen come out.) So really i have alot of plans but, i think the marine army can be finished soon.

mmm part finished projects...

lets see, I have those Grey knights that need cleaning up, about 4 days work there.

There is those Sisters, about a week there,

The Orks about 4 months there,

Eldar, about 2 months,

Dark Angels, month - month and a half,

Fallen 2 weeks,

Death Guard, 3 - 4 days,

Dwarves 2 weeks,

Battle fleet gothic (repairs only) 2 days,

Necromunda, 2 - 3 days,

Vikings 3 weeks,

Normans not sure...

Epic 6 months...

Tyranids 2 weeks,

I think you get the idea....

Now there is nothing wrong with this... but lets face it, its a pain to organise.

*Edit* forgot a couple...

*chuckles* That will probably be like me one day and i agree there is nothing wrong with that. So i think that i will start the army after i get some lizardmen stuff (the basic army + fun stuff + the battalion.)

40 csm to make either in to csm or pms , 6 oblits . 6 termis , 4 rhinos , 2 dps hmm 5 raptors and you should be ok for a long time .

Umm may i say i will probably only have about $200? Whst should i get with that? Please dont recommend transports because i wont get them (i have yet to get a strictly dedicated transport vehcle.)

Well, since nobody else has decided to tell you, I'll give it a go...

With $200... well, that translates (apparently) to 137.723 GBP.

So, assuming you're buying directly from Games Workshop...

Chaos Space Marines Terminator Lord = 11.95

Chaos Space Marines Battleforce = 48.95

  • 15 Chaos Space Marines (includes 1 Chaos Space Marine Champion, 1 Chaos Space Marine Icon Bearer, 1 Chaos Space Marine with heavy bolter and 1 Chaos Space Marine with plasma gun)
  • 5 Possessed Chaos Space Marines (includes 1 Possessed Chaos Space Marine Champion)
  • 8 Khorne Berserkers (includes 1 Skull Champion)
  • and 1 Chaos Space Marine Rhino

Chaos Space Marines Predator = 24.45

Chaos Space Marines Vindicator = 24.45

Chaos Space Marine Raptors = 24.45

That's more or less it, keeping under your $200 limit. Note that above prices are GBP.

Hmmmm.... $200?

Chaos Space Marines Terminator Lord: $20 (maybe less)

Chaos Space Marines Battleforce: $90

10 Chaos Space Marines or a cult unit of your choice: between $30 and $40

Chaos Vindicator or Chaos Predator: $40 or $45

There, a well rounded force with only 1 transport (comes with the Battleforce) and 1 tank. It has either 23 or 33 marines, depending on your cult units (I'm including the Berxerkers as Marines), and it also has a leader for a multitude of roles.

Shrike, do you realise most people are from USA or the UK?

People, he means $200 Australian.

Oh, and in relation to this

When i start im not wasting a whole squads worth on a transport i may get some later but i will start by getting the basics.

Do you mean points wise or money wise?

Money wise, I can understand, but if you want to play w/o any transports, you'll sruggle.

Points wise, Rhinos are only 35 points.

But I can understand you not wanting to buy Rhinos - $50 for a 35 point model!

EDIT: Wait - you're gonna start an army with only $200 to spend?

Eh, whatever tickles your elbow.

I'm talking about money wise, 35 points is not a squad. And it did only really occur to me after i read blood_raven's reply. (oh and many thanks to you.)

And no not with $200 with around $200 i just figure a start is a start no matter how much money you have. (and also, you know my eldar army? i started that with $200 and only ended up using $50 of it the first time around so, $200 can't be that hard.)
