Brother Gathurn
what are you opinons on masters of the forge. There 25 more points then a techmarine and have a better BS A ands W's plus they can take a conversion beamer. I love them n=myself but want to know how everyone else uses them/likes them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/155963-master-of-the-forge/ Share on other sites
IamJacksUserName
Ignore the conversion beamer. My personal experience with it has been quite disappointing. I put my MotF on a bike with the conversion beamer to make sure he can take full advantage of the increased strength at range. However, as it is a blast weapon it scatters, and even with the improved BS it didn't hit often enough to make it worth it. During a five game tournament I spent all six turns of the first game trying to take out a single Leman Russ with it. When I could get it to hit I couldn't penetrate the armor. On the one turn I did get it to penetrate it managed to survive with a stunned result. The following games fare little better. Now my experiences might just be my bad dice rolling, but compared to what a MotF can do in CC the conversion beamer just doesn't make sense to me. I have, at this point, begun to attach my MotF into a CC squad or with my captain's command squad to get the extra servo arm attacks into my opponent. Brother Gathurn
If I don't take a conversion beamer then I put him on a bike and atach him to a bike squad and either use them to mop up and since I usely play orks who dosn't protect his fire base of lootas I take them out. werewolf_nr
I usually start the game with mine standing behind the vehicle most likely to be shot at so he can repair if need be. Then he links up with the Chapter Master (who has just shot off his orbital) and they go support one of my assault units. robdark1
me i would give him a storm shield and put him into assault so that he do some good besides being a punching dummy for the emeny to hit. nothing matter more than 150pts model that does nothing the entire game because of what you do in support.. If he could have a Storm Shield that would be nice... Without the beamer he is best in Assault, the question is how best to get him there. I think Bike + PW with a bike squad is a good option. He can fire the flamer and TL Bolters in the shooting phase and then have five attacks in melee.
