Abaddon in 2k?

I really think Abaddon is best used in Apoc games, but I suppose 2k may be big enough though it would be a bit of a point sink for such a slow model. He really is quite tough to kill though at T5 with 4 wounds and a 2+/4+ save and is an absolute beast in HtH, but again, he is a terminator and is therefore pretty hard to properly deliver to the enemy lines. In apoc however, you can just take a squadron of LR's each with a unit of berzerkers or terminators and one with honest Abe and a retinue. I've seen it done, and the results were quite gruesome.

I would say 2k+ is large enough for Abbadon not to take up too many points, just don't forget a termy bodyguard and deepstriking or LRs.

(I'll never forget when I used Abbadon with 2 x 5 plague marines at a 600pt tourny at my local GW. After my first game vs a staff member and beating him 5-0 on KP, I was banned from using that day ;) )

LoL... wasn't smart enough to run away from abbadon? Or was it just a small table...

Personally I'd be pretty mad if someone banned my army from a tournament (as long as the list was legal), especially if there was a prize involved... I would have reported him to the manager for sure.

Back in 3rd ed I used a nightlords army with 3 obliterators in a 500 point tourney. Screened them in a bunker with stealth-adept chaos marines. People cried cheeze, I went 5-0, it was epic luls.

4th ed I took a marine list with 17 heavy weapons in 1000 points for a tourney with a $300 cash prize. Went undefeated then too..

It's extremely unfair for the staff to put extra limitations on what you can take after the tourney starts. And especially unfair if they do it just to decrease your (singling you out) chances of winning.

Small table, the ability to run and the fact he wanted to shoot me :P , the plague marines were just a bullet screen. Best moment was when a 5 man assault unit was wiped out after charging Abaddon before they even managed to hit me. :)

I wasn't too bothered, it was a fun tournment, I had a backup list as that list was just 'for fun' to see if it was good and it did mean all special characters were banned from peoples lists so I wasn't singled out. The staff members all agreed and I could see where they were coming from and agreed with them, since it wouldn't be much fun for other people if I went against them, afterall a 5-0 result says it all. I'm also one of those who plays for fun and doesn't mind the result, but I can manage massacre results every now and again. :)

This is basically saying if you can get Abaddon where you want and manage to assault your opponent, whatever unit you hit is dead.
