Doghouse
Knocked these up today but as they are still WIP I need to go back and clean up the detailing here and there, filling in gaps and stuff. Plasma Cannon This was made from the spare Redeemer flamers left over from my Crusader I just built. I cut away the melta barrel and added the front half of the flamer. I removed the two connecting barrels and added the nozzel to the main body of the flamer. I then added half the fuel tanks to the shoulder and GSed the gaps to give it an older feel. You could do the same to make the twin linked heavy flamer as well actually. http://i42.tinypic.com/30navwm.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/1z3moph.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/290pqn8.jpg Iron Clad This was a little trickier as I had to build the right arm pretty much from scratch. I added the heavy flamers that I made from spare flamers to the torso as it seems a bit weird to have then mounted on the arms when they are used for bludgeoning enemy armour where they could be damaged. I also added a hunter killer missile to the right shoulder pad to keep the profile fairly centered and bulked out the shoulders a little more. I also added a hinged armoured collar to the base of the sarcophogus to bulk it out a little and an armoured skirt between the legs. I also added spare shin pads to the rear of the legs to give it a heavier feel like it could move through dense cover without risking damage to the hydraulics there. http://i42.tinypic.com/i2psi9.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156106-aobr-dreadnought-conversions/ Share on other sites
Ferrus Manus
As usual very nice Doghouse. Any chance of some other angle shots on the Iron Clad's arms? EDIT: Thanks, that Hammer is great. What colours you going to paint these guys in? Doghouse
Thanks mate. Here you go... :) For the Seismic Hammer I wanted to create something that look like ti was driven by a piston for pounding the enemy as well as being used as a more conventional hammer. The lack of the arm mounted weaponary also means that I can add more cabling to give it an older feel. I made a bit of a breakthrough with the GS by mixing the hardener from Pro-create with the yellow part of the GS (the yellowy green parts of the model) it allowed me to create much sharper edges and I'll be using the same technique to clean the rest of the model up. http://i40.tinypic.com/2lw6kxf.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/2zs0ebn.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/213npt5.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156106-aobr-dreadnought-conversions/#findComment-1824373 Share on other sites

JekCromium
What is the end piece on the Iron Clad hammer arm? It looks sweet. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156106-aobr-dreadnought-conversions/#findComment-1824697 Share on other sites
Provehito in Altum
Very solid conversions there mate. Looking forward to seeing them painted! Daeothar
As usual; awesome work there Doghouse! I love the shape of the hammer. I'd been wondering how to model mine when the time comes and this piston idea of yours is a great approach. Kind of reminiscent of those on the Decepticons Rumble and Frenzy in the first animated series of Transformers, if you know what I mean. Consider this filed for future reference ^_^ I made a bit of a breakthrough with the GS by mixing the hardener from Pro-create with the yellow part of the GS (the yellowy green parts of the model) it allowed me to create much sharper edges and I'll be using the same technique to clean the rest of the model up. Nice. I use ProCreate almost exclusively nowadays. Is there a particular advantage to using the yellow part of GS as opposed to the white component of the PC? If so, I might give it a whirl myself... Doghouse
Thanks guys! :) Ferrus Manus: I'm going to do them as a revamped DIY chapter of mine called the Summoners. They're successors of the Invaders. Sons of Horus: I think you're right, it does look a little smaller. Might just be my camera but I'll double check the model to be sure. JekCromium: It's center part of the rotor blades from the plastic deffkopta. I just added some plastic rod to make it look more mace like. Daeothar: Yeah I know the ones, the tape cassette guys that were in Soundwave's chest. I personally haven't really got on with pro-create as it doesn't feel right to me. I've found this new combination of the two easier to work with and holds an edge really well, haven't tried it with detail work yet though. The blue and white mixed seems to work quite well as well. Doghouse
Quick update. I've started painting the Iron Clad basing him with Goblin Green which will be the main colour of the Summoners themselves. The Chapter icon will be displayed on the blank shield on the left shoulder and will most likely be be a clenched fist in the stye of the Subjugators rather than the Imperial Fists. I've added the beginings of an assault squad markingto show which squad he came from before he got mashed up and a number to the shoulder pads. As soon as I can afford it I'll definately be buying a drop pod for him so that he can close on the enemy quicker dispatching infantry with the two heavy flamers and dealing with heavier armoured vehicles with the fist and hammer. The shoulder mounted hunter killer missile will be there for targets of opportunity like the rear of enemy vehicles. http://i43.tinypic.com/2l95edw.jpg http://i39.tinypic.com/2jchcmw.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156106-aobr-dreadnought-conversions/#findComment-1826369 Share on other sites
Battle Brother SuM
JekCromium: It's center part of the rotor blades from the plastic deffkopta. I just added some plastic rod to make it look more mace like. I read this once again and realised I have three deffkoptas from Black Reach. Out of all the Seismic Hammer I've seen this is the one I am going to model. When I get it close to being done in the conversion stage I will shoot photos. Doghouse, thanks man!!
