James
awesome! thanks a lot for the crit, And ive just always been scared of highlights. Im afraid they'll end up being too stark and uneven. Im working on it though! are there any tuts for highlighting? Terminatorinhell
well, im a half decent painter but what i learned with highlights is that you thin the paints and just run the sides of the brush over the edges, for your BA try a 1:1 mix of blood red to blazing orange? Then is you mess up like a line is too thick just go over it with the normal armor color. Pig Of Sparta
I know exactly what ou mean when you say you're scared of highlighting.... up until recently, I was as well. I found that picking some easy colours and just going for it worked for me, but I think there are some tut's out there if you want them. To start with TerminatorInHell is on the right track, keep your paints thin and your brush sharply pointed. If you went with pure blazing orange over your blood red, it'd give you a start, and you'll be able to correct any mistakes you make fairly quickly and easily. Somewhere I've got a white dwarf with an 'eavy metal guide to painting Blood Angels, I'll dig it out and type it up if you like ;) James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156123-blood-angels-wip/#findComment-1825011 Share on other sites
James
if you could find it and email it to me or something it would be great, or even just the issue number would probably work, maybe i could get it on back issue. NemFX
I honestly think they'd look better with some more contrast.. If you were to paint the shoulderpad rims black, or even the crotch/upper legs black then that'd make them look individually more interesting. Bigger-than-Jesus
It looks pretty flat to be honest, even a baal red or some form of brown wash over the model would add depth. Like the chappy though, given me some ideas for mine lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156123-blood-angels-wip/#findComment-1825476 Share on other sites
