SeattleDV8
Yes they are deep striking ,but they are not in terrain until they disembark. Legatus
Oh, the unit definitely "has arrived via deep strike that turn", preventing them from assaulting. But is that the same as "arriving via deep strike", which is when models treat difficult terrain as dangerous terrain? "Models arriving via deep strike treat all difficult terrain as dangerous terrain." For the whole game? For the whole remaining turn? Or for the "deep striking" process, i.e. when they are placed via deep strike rules? If it is the latter, which I would tend to, disembarking from a transport that just arrived via deep strike is not part of "arriving" via deep strike. If it is the whole turn, how do you determine that? I am sure we all hope it is not for the rest of the game. boreas
I believe it is clear that a unit arriving in a Drop Pod, is considered deep strinking itself. A close read of the Deep Strike rules implies this and the FAQ confirms it. Definitely, but it doesn't say anything about difficult terrain. The unit arrives via deep strike, ok. Where does the unit arrive? In the drop pod. Is the drop-pod difficult or dangerous terrain? No. Hence, the unit doesn't take dangerous terrain tests even if the drop-pod does. Mind you, they obviously have to roll for difficult terrain when disembarking from the drop-pod, but that's something else entirely. ***edit: forget this, my mistake!*** Phil Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156147-drop-pods-landing-in-ruins/page/2/#findComment-1829183 Share on other sites
Legatus
Difficult terrain does not do anything when a unit is disembarking. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156147-drop-pods-landing-in-ruins/page/2/#findComment-1829233 Share on other sites

Bobman
Exactly, so does dangerous terrain affect disembarking? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156147-drop-pods-landing-in-ruins/page/2/#findComment-1829438 Share on other sites
Legatus
If you consider the unit that is disembarking to "enter dangerous terrain" then yes. chapter master 454
i still find it a shame i can't land a pod as a deep strike into enemy units to send them hurtling through the air like rag dolls and then jump out, and rapid fire them to death or ram a tank counting as moving 24" inchs so str ten hit on side (top) armour!!! just think we should be able to have some more fun rules other than just 'you are marine, you follow rules with no cheese except a few bits' Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156147-drop-pods-landing-in-ruins/page/2/#findComment-1830296 Share on other sites
