Stuart
They look lovely, but don't you risk getting kicked out of the Cult of Orange by bringing that much blue into the mix? Oh yeah, any more progress on the Captain? It'll be cool seeing him in this scheme. Daeothar
They look lovely, but don't you risk getting kicked out of the Cult of Orange by bringing that much blue into the mix? Oh yeah, any more progress on the Captain? It'll be cool seeing him in this scheme. Cheers :) And I don't think so; we're a pretty tight bunch. ;) Besides; all I did was replace the white trim with blue... And the captain will be next, after the squad is done  I had planned to get myself to the halfway point of this vow by the end of January and lo and behold; I actually made it this time! I've just had no time to post them up till now. I was undecided on the trims; white or not but eventually; with all the white added through the chapter-, company- and squad markings, as well as the sacred texts scribbled all over their armour and several stylised fang markings, I found there was no need, as there is now enough white to break up the plain surfaces. This was the first time I got to use the awesome Griffon Games decals I had made by them over two years ago and boy do they make the difference. I'm not a total incompetent when it comes to freehand but to copy the exact design on each and every marine was too daunting a task. So, I got myself some Micro Set and gloss varnish and went to work on those markings. All went well, until I managed to tip over the open bottle of Micro Set and spill half of its content over my work surface. That was last Saturday and the room still smells like vinegar, even after several solid cleaning sessions... I narrowly missed the decal sheet, so, in the end I got all the required decals on in good order, varnished them, touched up the white with some paint and dullcoated the lot, so the first three are finished. But enough of my ramblings; time for pics!! The first one, with added markings: http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/FLCombatSquadMarine1Front2.jpg http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/FLCombatSquadMarine1Right2.jpg The second one, a Mk4 marine with sculpted flames on his helmet: http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/FLCombatSquadMarine2Front.jpg http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/FLCombatSquadMarine2Left.jpg http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/FLCombatSquadMarine2Right.jpg And the third one; I painted this one before, as mentioned, but stripped him to fit in with the new style and painting level: http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/FLCombatSquadMarine3Front.jpg http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/FLCombatSquadMarine3Left.jpg http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/FLCombatSquadMarine3Right.jpg And here how he looked before his repainting: http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/Fotos/Fiery%20LionTacticalMarineFront600.jpg And finally, all three together. Slightly from above, so the bases can be seen a bit better: http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/FLCombatSquad1st3Marines.jpg On schedule to glory!! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156217-lpc-fiery-lions-combat-squad/page/2/#findComment-1868024 Share on other sites
Montuhotep
http://www.fierylions.nl/Pictures/ForumPictures/FieryLionsTacSquad/CombatSquad1/RogueTraderBloodAngels.jpg Ahhhh, Mike McVey's 3rd Company! I was in boarding school at the time I believe.... On a related note, did JJ ever beat Andy Chambers? At anything? Don't think he did. That's lovely work, Daeothar, really lovely - the Chapter badge is so good done against the blue like that. Master Toddius
They're coming along great, bro. Love the scenic industrial bases. All the detail you're putting into each model is rad as well. That old WD pic takes me way back. Very fun. Those Nid Warriors looked like Psychedelic Alien Afro Samurai or something <_< I'm kinda thinking that a good dark addition to the orange armor is to paint the bronze flames a gore red with a blood red highlight. It'll also triagulate the red on your bases and tie the base into the model in a subtle way as well. Other than that I honestly really dig what you've done. So much cool detail with a good balance makes me feel warm and happy inside. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156217-lpc-fiery-lions-combat-squad/page/2/#findComment-1868296 Share on other sites
aekold
They are looking great. The markings and decals really ad character to the figure. One question: what color did you use to highlight the bolters?
