DGC
Greetings brother wolves I have been building a diorama for a comp at my local independant retailer but had to drop out after it was clear I wasn't going to finish on time. You can read more here http://www.thegamersguild.co.uk/forum/topi...p?TOPIC_ID=1024 but I still want to finish the models and then re-base them to use in my army So brother wolves, do you think I have done enough or do you have any suggestions as to what else may help the look of Dreadnougt Jager?? http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s47/DGC_album/Dreadnought%20wip/DSCN0443.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s47/DGC_album/Dreadnought%20wip/DSCN0442.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s47/DGC_album/Dreadnought%20wip/DSCN0441.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s47/DGC_album/Dreadnought%20wip/DSCN0440.jpg http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s47/DGC_album/Dreadnought%20wip/DSCN0435.jpg C&Cs welcome Catcha - DGC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/ Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Frankly hes beautiful. My only question is why the different symbols on the chest and on the banner? DGC
Thanks for the comments The reason for the two different symbols is based on fluff of all Dreadnoughts (priest etc) belonging the Great Company - hence the prancing wolf on the torso. The howling wolf is the personal symbol of Logan's Night Runners which is the company I am building Thanks again - DGC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1828089 Share on other sites
muzzyman1981
That's the same thing I did....put his Great Company and the Rampant Wolf. Btw GREAT GREAT work! blood_raven_240
That is one cool Space Wolves Dreadnought. The Close Combat Arm with the Claws looks absolutely lethal. Should be pretty intimidating in a battle :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1828191 Share on other sites
hendrik
maybe you could magnetize his feet? so you can swap him from the diorama to the gamingbase? he's a real beauty;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1828221 Share on other sites
blood_raven_240
That is a very good idea, if you're still going ahead with the Diorama Base as well :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1828222 Share on other sites
Vassakov
Frankly, thats a beautiful model. A truely awe inspiring paintjob and some really subtle and nice conversion work done there. Magnets on the feet are your best bet for a scenic base and diorama. barek
Howl! Edit: I'm looking at the original thread know. I especially like you used the "Marine's chest plate from the armour of his fallen body"on his leg. WG Vrox
Wow, Nicely done, and inspiriing. Only suggestion I have is a real reach to find anything, but since you are going with the battle damage/combat look I suggest some backfire discolorization at the end of the AC barrel and the flammer. Bobman
I agree, a frankly awesome model. And the conversion work lends itself well, add to the model without the need for extensive work. Exellent. Ra1stl1n
Your Dread is really beautiful :) Loved your work on the pelts (top one was scratch built?) i wish i could manage that level of detail yet. Keep it up its really nice and as WG Vrox said since the dreadnought is fresh from battle(otherwise the iron priests would have it in top shape again) some blackening from the exhausts and the AC barrels would put it even more in the feeling you wanna give. Also the wolf under the moon is Russ' symbol (and so symbol of the Great Wolf and all Great Wolfs) besides that the two different symbols are nice imo, make the dreadnought more personified(<--does a word like that even exist?). TeamLando
Too bad about the Diorama, I saw the pics and I really liked the feel of it. But better luck next time, eh mate :) I must say you managed to capture motion really good with that Dreadnought, you can really feel him running and looking for the next thing to shoot. I like motion in dioramas, the few Space Wolves dioramas I've done always tried to capture that feral side of their movement, that charge into the enemy feeling. And you've done the same with this one. The wolves were awesome too, I hope you'll be able to complete it, or anything similiar, some day ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1829480 Share on other sites
Max_Dammit
Love it, the whole wear and tear, the damage, the trophy's, the only thing i feel as a bit of a let down is the kill count, its to bigg and a assault cannon would take out that many targets in one burst. But he looks fantastic :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1829507 Share on other sites
Bran Scalphunter
Maybe the kill count is just from this morning, not all of his kills. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1829514 Share on other sites
hendrik
or it resembles how many barrels of ale he had this morning;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1829625 Share on other sites

guinness drinking dwarf
Nice one brother. Thats one fine looking dread!! In fact seeing your work has given me the inspiration I needed to finish my ironclad. Mind if I rob the "red right hand" look. Bjorn the Fell-Handed
Just epic win that is, thanks for sharing. Perhaps put a barrel of ale on the back? ;) (The ancients have to have a beer sometimes :) ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1835328 Share on other sites
DGC
First off may I thank all for the positive C&Cs and appologise for not replying sooner (shift working father of 5) WG Vrox - thanks for the suggestion, I will do this some time this weekend. I quite often find that I get to a point where I am satisfied with the finish but miss the most basic things that will add to the final presentation Max_Dammit - again, thanks for the critical eye. I think I was in a bit of a hurry to 'finish' the arm and that was the first thing that seemed to suit. In hind-sight maybe some more pack/fang markings, possibly Bloodclaw colours just to add to his symbolic history - What do you think?? As for the base. I have a 60mm resin one which fits in with my bases on the rest of my army, so I will probably use a 2mm 'pin' so I can base the Dread on either. Once I have finished the diorama I can permanantly attach to the 60mm base guinness drinking dwarf and anyone else - feel free to use anything that is of interest - we all do :) The last thing I hope to do is magnetise the arms so I can swap them with others as the need arises Thanks again for the input and I hope to have those little bits done in the next couple of days - will post pics when done Catcha - DGC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156382-dreadnought-jager-wip/#findComment-1835788 Share on other sites
13thWarrior
WoW!!! Your local GW stores need to petition for that model to appear in White Wolf (WD)! Awesome modelling, conversion, painting, appearance! Fantastic original ideas! I hope the base you are putting him on is as phenom as he is! Put him on a pedestal (not literally), a big dynamic diorama due his service and to enhance his look! Kudos Batttle Brother! Dark Bjoern
Very well done, brother. He´s amazing. :wallbash: I have a weak spot for dreads. That´s maybe the reason why i have more then 20 of them.
