Combat_Vet
Greetings, I built a dread years ago from peices I found in a throw away pile. I received a lot of help from the people here, so i'm giving it another try ;) I have an extensive bits box, but very few complete models. For this model I had the body (w/o chest), upper arms, and one leg armor from a GW vererable dread. I also had the legs and feet from a standard dread. I had an old ork claw so the left arm was no issue. I am horrible with GS so I used an old oil drum for the chest and added charms. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/VenDreadbody.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/VenDreadleft.jpg The main issues (to me) came up when I tried to decide what to make his ranged weapon from. I wanted him to have a linked heavy bolter. I had a scrap dread engine from FW. I cut it and glued it and added some charms. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/VenDreadright.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w291/meadows88/VenDreadBolter.jpg I'm not sure it looks like a heavy bolter, more like a stubber I guess. Any thoughts and/or ideas on what to use to make him look decent? Oh yea, any ideas on making him look more "wolfy" would be most welcome as well. I am adding a complete wolf pelt across the upper body. You can see the GS in the body picture. Mal
He already looks 'wolfy' enough mate, no mistaking which legion this 'puppy' belongs to... Ok ok, its a bad pun... I just couldn't help myself... heh The gun arm looks pretty cool, yes it looks more like a stubber than a bolter, but since SM cant get stubber anymore, that really doesn't matter, its big and has lots of dakka... what more could a dread ask for. Vassakov
Well, apart from the fact it was an awful model to begin with? :P (Sorry, I never, ever liked that GW Dread model... hoping for a FW SW VD) It's a very neat little conversion, and with the stubby arm and giant claw it has an almost charming retro feel to it - perfect for a millenia old killing machine! Captain Mick
It looks great really. Nice ''conversion'' and painted :P. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/156604-dread-recovery-version-20/#findComment-1830765 Share on other sites
Beornling 3.1415
hey, we took the parts from the enemy that killed me after the techpriests were done with making that xenos machine spirit conform to imperial standards, makes perfect sense. Brother Captain Andrecus
Hrm... Interesting conversion there. I like the little stubby Bolter arm... It made me laugh... The claw though... Heh. A re-paint might make it better. As it is, it looks a little too Orky. Maybe you could greenstuff a pelt hanging off of it? That would likely increase your "wolfiness factor". Then again, from the side it looks fine... But it's a little bleh from the front. Another charm string dangling off it might do it too... Just my 2 cents worth.
