Land Speeder Storm

I built this a few months ago, but since I'm looking after my wife, post (her) ankle reconstruction, and she is asthmatic, paint and glue fumes in the house are a no-no. It's waited until now for the paint up.

My Landspeeder storm is painted (need to finish the base, now). I've put in 5 seats and restraint bars like you'd find on amusement park rides. The bit on top represents the disruptor beacon, and the old smoke launcher on the nose is the cerberus launcher. Unlike the "official" pics of the LSS, this doesn't have three engines. I went through quite a few permutations and to my mind, there is no way to add a third turbine to the current speeder that wouldn't then make the whole front end look like Kate Moss stapled to King Kong Bundy. So, mine has only two of the standard pattern.

To make up for it, though, it does have some retro-thrusters mounted under the passenger compartment (jump jets off a Starship Troopers Bigfoot Marauder. It was spare.).

And we have main engines start, go for throttle-up.

@Luku:

The jets are a spare back piece from a Starship Troopers "Bigfoot" Marauder suit (now oop). The model comes as a basic suit with metal alternate parts, and if you make the bigfoot, you end up with a spare back piece and arms and feet.

The compartment is ALL plasticard. One piece of textured plasticard (Evergreen "sidewalk", approx 12mm squares) 3x3 squares. Spare offcuts of sprue provide reinforcement (top rail and under floor for running boards. Benches are made from 1mm sheet cut to size, using some rod as spacers. Seats are 1mm sheet, cut to shape.

Crew are just scouts glued over the marine legs.

thanks for the comments.

Hey that looks pretty good. I'm glad to see more people putting these together. I went a different way for the passanger cabin (more of a huey chopper look). I like the disruption beacon and the paint job.

Keep up the good work chromedog and I hope the wife is okay.

It's for flyby pickups and quick extractions. Only really there to fill the void from the lack of a seat (LSS only carry 5 passengers).

It looks medieval because it did come from a WHFB building extra. If I'd made it for someone else, I would've left the void as it is, this was made for my army, so any stylistic choices are to suit it.

It's on a pin, and swivels back or can be removed though. It's more for fluff purposes. The LSS is used for both insertions AND extractions, and more than likely for the Search part of S&R.
