Salamanders Chaplain finished - all greenstuff.

Another insane project comes to its conclusion.

A chappy I sculpted up ages ago is finally done. I didnt want to paint up the green so I hand cast the bugger to have a couple of them in my bitz box in case I need a special chaplain in the future.

The wargear is illegal as its an artificer armour with a hammer and crozius but I count that as crozius and ccw so in all aspects its a normal chappy witha jumppack.

Greenstuff:

Jumppack - recut, elongated and covered with scales, chains, two miniature icons on each side, one shield with a drake and one amulet with a mini lizard on it (the rosarius).

Torso - is almost all greenstuff with scales going under the arms (hard to see in the pics).

The chest icon is added to the torso.

Collar - The protective collar is not clearly seen in the pics but its a wing-ornamented thing that looks awesome in real life.

Back - Elongated to fit the jumppack with cables running from it to the torso (not clearly seen)

Arms - sculpted elbow guards to look more like medeval armour, cables added from the elbow guard to under the shoulderpads.

Hands - 100% greenstuff, had to remake them the last second to fit the weapons.

Hammer and crozius - 100% greenstuff, they both look silly kinda but what the heck, I see this as a learning curve.

Legs - thighs partially resculpted to fit cabling and legs totally remade to look gothic with salamander-looking with wings and fire and arcs picturing reliquary items.

Feet removed and replaced in the last second with claws.

Shoulderpads - 100% greenstuff.

Head - almost completely made of greenstuff, whole face and ear parts as well as half the helmet removed and replaced with green to look like a scaly deaths head biting a power cable.

Base - another one of my silly mushroom/lava/chrystal bases.

Here are some old WIPs:

Well, hope you like the mini and can forgive me for the goofy looking base and the weird weapons...

Next project on the table is a true scale Salamnders tyranid war veteran librarian!

If anyone know how to scale it down so that it can be used in normal 28mm games then let me know.

Incredible work there. Definatly a GS pro in my book, together with a great paint job, wierd base and weapons aside. Your good. Keep in mind, the hammer does not have to be a "Thunder" hammer it could simply be a close combat weapon.

Thank you for posting your work.

I have to admit this by far one of the best chaplains for the salamanders i have ever seen in my life so far. and to be honest i've seen alot. (is a bit of a war vet in a way) i look at this and it makes me want to laugh at the local regional Manager of the West side of Canada with his chaplain.... truely amazing and i wish this was a model i could buy as well. though if i ever got it i may just leave it on my shelf instead of using it as i would be to scared to damage it.

Great sculpting work. The blends could be a bit smoother, but overall this is a very nice piece!

Hey Lunchbox:)

I thought about it while painting the mini but decided to not give my best as the hand cast mini has a degradation of detail from the gs master. Look at for example the drake icons on the knee and chest, they are much sharper on the master and so I figured when/if I´ll ever paint up the master itself I´ll do it to my best ability, maybe make an GD effort.

So far I have only painted one single mini to the best of my ability and that was the terminator captain I did a couple of years ago.

Nice sculpting and nice painting, Pyriel. I've seen enough of your Firedrake army here on the web now that it really makes me want to see it in person on the tabletop. Cool beans.

Thanks. So where do you live man:)

Who knows, we might have a game still...

Well, cant sell it since its illegal but if I ever do a professional cast of it I´m thinking of donating a couple to BnC to have as competition prizes or so.

Giving stuff away is not illegal you see.

On the other hand I might be tempted to remake the mini totally from scratch and way more original and if I do then it will become 100% mine to do with as I please.

Time will tell.

Here Here! If your that awesome why don't you submit something to golden demon? You have to share your techniques!

Well I tried GD UK this summer but the carry case with my mini stuffed in it (another mini) was a couple centimeters to big for passing as hand luggage on the plane so they told me it has to go amongst the rest of the heavy duty luggage and that means a couple of dudes will throw it around into and from the plane amongst other big luggage and that means the mini will have arrived to UK in pieces so I said screw this I´m going home :tu:

Good work man. Any chance at an army shot? Seems you have a pretty solid collection going now

It´ll come but it´ll have to wait till all the 50 terminators are done together with the 20 vanguards, 30 sternguards and 10 honour guards :)

I know where you got the idea for your hammer, tshields, and shoulderpads at... msn-wink.gif

ORLY?

And where would that be, hehe?

110? Your 10 marines short of the Salamanders 1st Company, remember the Sallies have only 7 Companies and each is 120 men strong, maybe another 10 Termies or Sternguard.

2 terminator librarians

2 PA librarians

2 terminator chaplains

1 PA chaplain

1 Master

Maybe 1 Captain too.

Damn, I´m 1 or 2 marines short still.

Hmm...

But then the terminators will be 55 and not 50.

And if the captain is added then a small command squad will go with him.

All accompanied by 7 dreadnoughts and transported in 5 land raiders and around 8 drop pods.
