Alkana
This is just something random I wrote. It's based on a kill team game I played recently. It's not the greatest story ever, but I like it. C&C is appreciated, as always. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sergeant gripped his chainsword tightly as he rose to his feet, ending his prayers with the simple phrase, "For the Emperor". He looked behind him at the black armored marines who accompanied him and said, "Brothers, the Tau are still unaware of their impending doom. Our allies are in position. Glory to the Emperor." The marines echoed his last statement and put their left fists to their chests, an old gesture dating back to the Great Crusade, and possibly earlier, that their brotherhood had maintained. The sergeant returned his attentions back to their destination. The Tau had stolen two boats from a nearby city, filled them with explosives, and were attempting to use the boats to destroy the last bastion of the Imperial forces on the planet. The sergeant and his squad were given the task of assassinating the enemy leader, while Stormtroopers rescued a kidnapped Imperial Guard commander and a squad of Dark Angels destroyed the boats with explosive charges. The last defenders of the Imperium on this world would never know the fate of the teams, only the results of their actions, which allowed them to fight the Tau back and reclaim the world. The boat carrying the squad of marines approached the side of the ship and the marines began to board the larger, xenos-infested ship. The sergeant saw a small group of Fire Warriors and gave the order that would begin the chaotic events of the night. +Ready pistols. Xenos, 11 o'clock. Fire at will.+ He voxed to the squad, drawing his pistol. Only four of his squadmates had climbed onto the ship so far, and they unholstered their bolt pistols silently and began firing in the direction of the Tau. The noise only lasted a few seconds and the sergeant saw the Tau fall, their bloody corpses made completely unrecognisable by the explosive bolts that had ended their life. He heard shouts from the right and turned just as more Fire Warriors appeared and opened fire, killing the squad's flamer-bearer as he climbed onto the boat. The sergeant activated his chainsword and charged. He leapt over a crate and swung the sword, cleaving one of the xenos scum in two and eviscerating another. His squad joined the fight, firing their pistols at point blank range or beating the enemy to death with their bare hands. After thirty seconds, the squad began to move, leaving what little remained of the Tau soldiers to rot. He heard the sound of hellguns firing not to far from his position, meaning the Stormtroopers had finally arrived. Then the squad was fired upon by more Fire Warriors. The marines charged, beginning yet another massacre of the Tau. Two brothers fell to the aliens' guns before the xenos were torn apart by bolts or the sergeant's chainsword. With yet another enemy squad eliminated, the marines began to sprint towards the sounds of battle not too far away. One of his brothers saw them first. "More Tau," the marine growled, raising his bolter. Behind the group of Fire Warriors, the sergeant saw a large figure cutting down Stormtroopers with its guns. "The commander is mine." The sergeant said. He repeated the statement over the vox, and ordered the Stormtroopers to eliminate the Fire Warriors while the marines completed their mission. Knowing that it would take the Stormtroopers a few minutes to kill the Fire Warriors on their own, the sergeant decided to assist them. His squad opened fire with tyheir bolters, killing most of the Tau but losing three more battle brothers to the xenos' return fire. A salvo of hellgun fire finished the Tau off, and the marines ran towards the enemy commander, eager to take his life in the name of the Emperor. The commander, realizing its danger, used its suit's jet pack to evade the marines. The Tau leader landed on an unstable bridge connecting the two stolen boats, daring the Astartes to attack him. The sergeant shouted, "For the Emperor!" and met the commander's challenge, fearlessly charging onto the bridge. In close combat, the Tau was no match for the space marine. The sergeant's first blow was turned aside by the Tau's gun. The second blow severed the xeno's arm at the shoulder, sending the gun and his foe's appendage into the water. The Tau turned to run, but a shot from his bolt pistol ended any hopes of escape. The alien cried out in pain and fell, clutching its ruined leg. The sergeant raised his chainsword and struck again, decapitating the Tau. "It is done." a marine said, putting a hand on the sergeant's shoulder. "Not yet." The sergeant replied. He turned to see the Stormtroopers carry the body of their unconscious commander into the boat. He walked over to the sergeant of the Stormtroopers. "There is not enough time for us to reach our boat. I request that you allow us to use yours." He said. The Stormtrooper nodded and the four marines went onto the boat. It was only then that the sergeant remembered about the Dark Angels. +Sergeant Solomon, what is your position?+ he voxed. +We've set the last of the charges, but we cannot make it back to our boat. We will take the xenos to their graves before we fall.+ Solomon replied. +Such a sacrifice is not neccessary. Fight your way to the Stormtrooper's boat. You should have enough time to make it here.+ The sergeant said. One minute later, the sergeant was proven right as Solomon and his last marine reached the boat. Two minutes later, the Imperials were a safe distance away and Solomon detonated the charges. The boats exploded and the loyalists' mission was accomplished. It was time for the sergeant and his remaining marines to complete their goal. The sergeant nodded to his marines, and the Astartes turned towards the survivors and opened fire. The Stormtroopers had put their weapons down away from them and were mercilessly cut down as they attempted to reach their guns. Solomon roared in fury as bolt shells ripped through his armor, wounding him mortally. The sergeant fired his pistol at the Dark Angel's exposed head, ending his pain quickly. The other Dark Angel met his end as one of his marines repeatedly stabbed him in the neck with a combat knife. In only a few moments, the survivors of what they had believed to be a successful mission were killed quickly and efficiently by their 'allies'. The sergeant removed his helmet, revealing the hydra tattoo that covered the left side of his face. He turned as he heard a sound and saw a grieviously wounded Stormtrooper struggling to stay alive. The trooper gasped in terror as he saw the sergeant's face and whispered, "Why?" The sergeant raised his pistol to the human's head. The sergeant replied, "For the Emperor," and pulled the trigger.
