Epistolary Librarian

Reading throogh my SM codex, it says in the Librarian entry you can upgrade to an Epistolary for +50 points. But it doesn't say what benefits the Epistolary gets....no new statline or anything....I'm pretty sure I've missed something...any pointers will be appreciated.

They get to use an extra psychic power per turn

still in line with the psychic and weapon rules - so only one shooting attack, can't shoot the vortex if you've moved unless you're in TDA etc etc etc.

Opens a lot of combos up but very points heavy

I like gate then null zone vs tzenchen marines, daemons, terminators or characters with an invulnerable save.

tigerius goes one better and smites them aswell ;)

50 points for 1 extra psychic attack? Is that worth it? I think it should at least have the same stat line as the chapter master so he can represent the chief Librarian.......

Funny you should say that, as the Chief Librarian entry has the stat-line of a Codicier...

2 Powers mean that you can do quickening + might and have a S6 I10 PW.

Not a bad use. I've done this. S6 or I10 force weapon is also pretty decent. Actually, S6 force weapon sounds very nice...

I personally like the gate/vortex or gate/avenger combo... I really like gate/avenger when coupled with sternguard with 2 heavy flamers.

Also the null/force weapon combo is good. Fire off null zone, then hack up a character. Right when he thinks he's safe from the insta-gib, tell him he's got to re-roll those invul saves.
